Residual tail twisting in ascidian larvae is stabilized by asymmetric myofibrils that resist bilateral symmetry restoration

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ascidian Ciona larvae initially show strong clockwise tail twisting, which is largely corrected during development. However, a small residual twist remains. This study shows that organized helical myofibrils in tail muscles mechanically stabilize this residual asymmetry, preventing complete restoration of bilateral symmetry and revealing how embryos ...

Spin-phonon coupling in two-dimensional magnetic materials

open access: yesNational Science Open, 2023
Recently, two-dimensional magnetic materials (2DMMs) have become a focused research direction in a broad range of two-dimensional materials, due to their underlying significance in fundamental research, as well as in technologically relevant applications

Spin Squeezing Inequalities for Arbitrary Spin [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters, 2011
We determine the complete set of generalized spin squeezing inequalities, given in terms of the collective angular momentum components, for particles with an arbitrary spin. They can be used for the experimental detection of entanglement in an ensemble in which the particles cannot be individually addressed.

The PI3Kδ inhibitor roginolisib (IOA‐244) preserves T‐cell function and activity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Identification of novel PI3K inhibitors with limited immune‐related adverse effects is highly sought after. We found that roginolisib and idelalisib inhibit chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) cells and Treg suppressive functions to similar extents, but roginolisib affects cytotoxic T‐cell function and promotion of pro‐inflammatory T helper subsets to a

Resistance of Nitric Oxide Dioxygenase and Cytochrome c Oxidase to Inhibition by Nitric Oxide and Other Indications of the Spintronic Control of Electron Transfer

open access: yesBiophysica
Heme enzymes that bind and reduce O2 are susceptible to poisoning by NO. The high reactivity and affinity of NO for ferrous heme produces stable ferrous-NO complexes, which in theory should preclude O2 binding and turnover.

Preaching to the ‘Feral Beast’: Tony Blair’s Farewell Speech to the Press

open access: yesAltre Modernità, 2010
This paper, which relies mainly on a cultural studies and critical discourse analytical approach, aims to explore the emotional and discursive space marked out by Tony Blair' Reuters speech on "Public Life" (June 12, 2007) and the heated reaction it ...

THE DETERMINATION OF KINETIC REGULARITIES OF SEPARATION OF WATER-EMULSION SPINACH SUSPENSION IN THE FIELD OF GRAVITATIONAL AND CENTRIFUGAL FORCES

open access: yesСовременная наука и инновации, 2022
Chlorophyll is a green plant pigment that is highly soluble in fats. This pigment substance, called the food dye chlorophyll and related to food premixes, is obtained by various physicochemical methods from raw materials, usually of plant origin.

Spin polarization decay in spin-1/2 and spin-3/2 systems

open access: yes, 2007
We present a general unifying theory for spin polarization decay due to the interplay of spin precession and momentum scattering that is applicable to both spin-1/2 electrons and spin-3/2 holes.

Circular RNA expression landscapes in myelodysplastic neoplasms: Associations with mutational signatures and disease progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In this explorative study, the abundance of circular RNA molecules in bone marrow stem cells was found to be elevated in patients with high‐risk myelodysplastic neoplasms, and to be associated with an increased risk of progression to acute myeloid leukemia.

Fisher Information Perspective of Pauli’s Electron

open access: yesEntropy, 2022
An electron moving at velocities much lower that the speed of light with a spin, is described by a wave function which is a solution of Pauli’s equation.
