Affinification: A Fine Approximation of Deformations

open access: yesComputer Graphics Forum, EarlyView.
Abstract We introduce affinification, a novel method for accelerating physics‐based animation of elastic solids. During a time‐dependent simulation, our method automatically partitions the space into affine and elastic regions depending on the deformation.

Delipidisation of wool fibres and the subsequent beneficial properties of delipidised wool fibres

open access: yesColoration Technology, EarlyView.
Abstract Wool fibres are complex matrices of proteins and fatty acids/lipids found both internally and externally. 18‐methyleicosanoic acid (18‐MEA) is covalently bound to the surface of the fibre via a thio‐ester link, and is considered one of the most important lipids as it is responsible for the hydrophobic properties of wool fibres.

Dual‐aim purpose strategies and organizational design solutions

open access: yesEuropean Management Review, EarlyView.
Abstract This paper advances theory on the strategic dimensions of corporate purpose by exploring how organizations design for a dual‐aim purpose—pursuing both financial and pro‐social objectives that are inherently in tension. Risk management strategies in higher education

open access: yesEuropean Management Review, EarlyView.

From Cohesion to Norms: How Animal Groups Come, Stay, and Function Together

open access: yesEthology, EarlyView.
The present review underscores two salient points: In the context of evolutionary transitions to pair‐ and group living, it is imperative to acknowledge the distinction between selective forces that act during the origin of these social systems and those that act during their subsequent maintenance.

Auxin response and PIN‐mediated transport in chlorophyte algae

open access: yesJournal of Integrative Plant Biology, EarlyView.
Like multicellular plants, green algae respond to auxin and move it across their cells. However, their PIN‐like proteins do not act like plant auxin exporters, suggesting that basic auxin transport evolved early and specialized directional transport appeared later in plant evolution.

Voting Red Again: How Social Capital and Local Change Drove the Trump Swing

open access: yesJournal of Regional Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Social capital has long been regarded as a bulwark of democratic life. Yet in the United States—as across much of the democratic world—some of the communities with the densest social ties have proved the most receptive to antisystem politics.
