Programming Palladium Cage Geometry through Ligand Redox Modulation

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, Volume 138, Issue 25, 15 June 2026.
A neutral redox‐active exTTF ligand (L) forms a Pd2L4 cage, whereas its oxidized form (Lox) yields a Pd2(Lox)2 macrocycle. Lox further assembles with a dibenzothiophene derivative (L′) into Pd2(Lox)(L′)2 and Pd4(Lox)4(L′)4 architectures. Reduction of Pd2(Lox)2 and Pd2(Lox)(L′)2 restores the parent Pd2L4 cage, enabling redox controlled nuclearity ...

Autofiction as relational mediation: A Ghost in the Throat and To Write as if Already Dead

open access: yesOrbis Litterarum, Volume 81, Issue 4, Page 363-376, August 2026.
Abstract Because of its exploration of the self and the resemblance to online styles of publishing, autofiction has been accused by certain scholars of reflecting neoliberal tendencies. Hans Demeyer and Sven Vitse have developed a more nuanced view on the relation between autofiction and neoliberalism.

Hyperglycemic Hyperosmolar Syndrome With Higher Brain Dysfunction in Which Arterial Spin Labeling Revealed Abnormal Cerebral Blood Flow: A Case Report

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 7, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Treatment for hyperglycemic hyperosmolar syndrome (HHS) was initiated for a transferred unconscious patient. Aphasia and agnosia remained even after metabolic improvement. Arterial spin labeling (ASL) indicated increased blood flow in the left temporal and parietal lobes.

Cotton facilitates long‐distance seed dispersal by functioning as nest material for birds

open access: yesOikos, Volume 2026, Issue 7, July 2026.
Cotton (Cossypium) fibres, which grow naturally in bolls around the seeds of cotton plants, have been used for centuries to produce fabric. The presumed natural function of cotton is that these lightweight and fluffy fibres may support wind dispersal of the seeds inside.

Rethinking social capital in wildfire resilience: the case of central Portugal

open access: yesDisasters, Volume 50, Issue 3, July 2026.
Abstract This article explores the role of social capital in wildfire resilience and is based on case study research in central Portugal. Given the recent revival of the concept across disciplines to explain how communities can cope with hazards, we critically analyse social capital through a social network analysis perspective, introducing an ...

Direct democracy and political extremism

open access: yesEconomica, Volume 93, Issue 371, Page 1095-1121, July 2026.
Abstract We study how citizens' right to directly decide on policies through popular initiatives affects the attractiveness of extreme candidates in representative elections. In our theoretical framework, single prominent policy issues on which individual voters hold extreme views get a large weight in their assessment of candidates, thereby favouring ...

Moments imparted to a bowling ball: introducing continuous 3D moment vector diagrams

open access: yes, 2008
Bowling, a typical skill sport, requires exact motion timing and control of finger forces and moments. The latter, the moments applied by the three fingers to the ball, were measured with an instrumented bowling ball in bowlers of different performance ...
