Functional comparison of EncB and EncC cargo proteins in iron storage within the Myxococcus xanthus encapsulin

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Encapsulins are protein nanocompartments that play an important role in iron storage. In the Myxococcus xanthus encapsulin system, two cargo proteins called EncB and EncC contribute to iron mineralization. Here, we show that EncB and EncC generate iron‐containing minerals with distinct chemical compositions, suggesting that the composition of stored ...

Circular RNA expression landscapes in myelodysplastic neoplasms: Associations with mutational signatures and disease progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In this explorative study, the abundance of circular RNA molecules in bone marrow stem cells was found to be elevated in patients with high‐risk myelodysplastic neoplasms, and to be associated with an increased risk of progression to acute myeloid leukemia.

Keratin 19 as a prognostic marker and contributing factor of metastasis and chemoresistance in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Keratin 19 (KRT19) is overexpressed in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer with high levels of Kallikrein‐related peptidases (KLK) 4–7 and is associated with poor survival. In vivo analyses demonstrate that elevated KRT19 increases peritoneal tumour burden.

Generation of squeezed optical states via stored classical pulses in a Bose gas

open access: yesPhysical Review Research
We propose and analyze a scheme to generate squeezed light by storing a classical probe pulse in a Bose-Einstein condensate (BEC) and exploiting the nonlinear evolution caused by atom-atom collisions during the storage time.

Quantum sensing of photonic spin density using a single spin qubit

open access: yesPhysical Review Research, 2021
Nitrogen-vacancy (NV) centers in diamond have emerged as promising room-temperature quantum sensors for probing condensed matter phenomena ranging from spin liquids, two-dimensional (2D) magnetic materials, and magnons to hydrodynamic flow of current ...

Loss of IGF‐1R impairs DNA‐PKcs recruitment to chromatin leading to defective end‐joining

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
IGF‐1R promotes radioresistance by facilitating DNA‐PKcs recruitment to chromatin, enabling non‐homologous end‐joining (NHEJ) repair of double‐strand breaks. Inhibition or loss of IGF‐1R disrupts this recruitment to damage sites, driving compensatory reliance on microhomology‐mediated end‐joining (MMEJ) repair.

Birefringence and dichroism effects in the spin noise spectra of a spin-1 system

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics, 2022
We perform spin noise spectroscopy experiments in metastable helium atoms at room temperature, with a probe light whose frequency is blue detuned from the D _0 line.

USP29‐regulated noncanonical stabilization of the hypoxia‐inducible factor‐α in aggressive prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We identify USP29 as the only DUB mirroring CA9 expression, a marker of hypoxia and HIF pathway activation associated with PCA aggressiveness. USP29 stabilizes HIF‐1α and HIF‐2α via a noncanonical mechanism that is independent of PHD/pVHL activity yet relies on proteasomal regulation, establishing USP29 as a previously unrecognized regulator of hypoxic

Landau level spin diode in a GaAs two dimensional hole system

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics, 2015
We have fabricated and characterized a Landau level spin diode in a GaAs two-dimensional hole system. We used the spin diode to probe the hyperfine coupling between hole and nuclear spins and found no detectable net nuclear spin polarization, indicating ...

Single spin detection with an ensemble of probe spins

open access: yes, 2017
Single spin detection is a key objective in the field of metrology. There have been many experimental and theoretical investigations for the spin detection based on the use of probe spins. A probe spin shows the precession due to dipole-dipole interaction from a target spin, and measurement results of the probe spin allow us to estimate the state of ...
