Abstract In birds, the neural canal houses a variety of anatomical structures including the spinal cord, meninges, spinal vasculature, and respiratory diverticula. Among these, paramedullary diverticula and the extradural dorsal spinal vein may leave behind osteological correlates in the form of pneumatic foramina and fossae, and a bilobed geometry of ...

Sacrococcygeal teratoma with spinal canal invasion
We report a case of a neonate with Altman typeⅠsacrococcygeal teratoma (SCT) with spinal canal involvement, in which ultrasonography was useful in the evaluation of the tumor progression into the spinal canal.

Lesion-induced generation of interneuron cell types in specific dorsoventral domains in the spinal cord of adult zebrafish [PDF]
In contrast to mammals, adult zebrafish regenerate neurons in the lesioned spinal cord. For example, motor neurons are generated from an olig2-expressing population of pMN-like ependymoradial glial cells in a ventrolateral position at the central canal ...

3D anatomical atlas of the heads of male and female adult Chamaeleo calyptratus
The veiled chameleon is a model organism in reptile development research. Utilizing contrast‐enhanced microCT and deep learning segmentation models, we have generated the first digital atlases of the skull, nervous system, cranial muscles and hyolingual muscles.

Tapering of the Cervical Spinal Canal in Patients with Chiari I Malformations
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE: Upper cervical spinal canal dimension may have a role in abnormal CSF dynamics in patients with Chiari I malformation. We attempted to measure spinal canal tapering from anteroposterior spinal canal dimensions in patients with ...

Abstract The upper carbonate concretion levels of the Romualdo Formation (Aptian, Brazil) have yielded several theropod dinosaur remains, including spinosaurids and the coelurosaurs Santanaraptor placidus and Mirischia asymmetrica, the phylogenetic affinities of which are controversial.

Abstract The ray‐finned fishes include one out of every two species of living vertebrates on Earth and have an abundant fossil record stretching 380 million years into the past. The division of systematic knowledge of ray‐finned fishes between paleontologists working on extinct animals and neontologists studying extant species has obscured the ...

Lumbar spinal canal osteosarcoma
Abstract Rationale: Osteosarcoma is a rare neoplasm in the lumbar spine. Although osteosarcoma can arise in any portion of the skeleton, it very rarely arises in the spinal canal, which accounts for <0.1% of all cases of adult sarcomas. Here, we describe a case of osteosarcoma arising in the L4–5 spinal canal.
