A Comparison of the Mechanical Properties of ECM Components and Synthetic Self‐Assembling Peptides

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Self‐assembling peptide hydrogels are increasingly utilized in biomedical applications. The authors review the key mechanical properties of these structures across multiple size scales and compare them to that of native extracellular matrix components, which are found to display a much wider range of structural attributes.

Controlled Release of Human Dental Pulp Stem Cell‐Derived Exosomes from Hydrogels Attenuates Temporomandibular Joint Osteoarthritis

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Exosomes can reduce tissue damage in temporomandibular joint osteoarthritis (TMJOA), but rapid clearance limits their efficacy. This study encapsulates exosomes in hyaluronic acid hydrogels for controlled release. In a rat model, hydrogel‐encapsulated exosomes outperform free exosomes in preserving bone integrity and reducing tissue destruction ...

An Improved Approach for Contrast Enhancement of Spinal Cord Images based on Multiscale Retinex Algorithm [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2014
This paper presents a new approach for contrast enhancement of spinal cord medical images based on multirate scheme incorporated into multiscale retinex algorithm. The proposed work here uses HSV color space, since HSV color space separates color details from intensity.

DOUBLING OF THE SPINAL CORD [PDF]

open access: yesArchives of Neurology And Psychiatry, 1920
Variations in the gross anatomy of the spinal cord are unusual. Observation of many spinal cords, in our regular class dissections during a period of five years, tends to confirm this statement. During this period one double spinal cord was found. A careful search of the literature failed to disclose the report of a case similar to the one I describe ...

An Intervertebral Disc (IVD) Regeneration Model Using Human Nucleus Pulposus Cells (iHNPCs) and Annulus Fibrosus Cells (iHAFCs)

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This study investigates hTert‐immortalized human nucleus pulposus (iHNPCs) and annulus fibrosus (iHAFCs) cells for intervertebral disc (IVD) regeneration and spinal fusion models. A 3D‐printed citrate‐based scaffold loaded with BMP9‐stimulated iHAFCs and BMP2‐stimulated iHNPCs effectively promotes bone and cartilage formation, mimicking the IVD ...

The role of nitric oxide in the dorsomedial periaqueductal gray (dmPAG) column in cardiovascular responses in urethane‐anesthetized male rats

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, Volume 5, Issue 6, Page 557-564, December 2022., 2022
In the current study, after anesthetized rat with urethan the femoral artery was cannulated, then its head was mounted on a stereotaxic instrument and drugs (saline‐NAME, L‐Arg, and L_Arg+ L‐NAME) microinjected into the dmPAG and cardiovascular responses that recorded by a Power lab were evaluated.
