Spinal deformities and pseudofractures [PDF]

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Roentgenology, 1987
Nine children with spinal deformities had CT examinations after sustaining blunt abdominal trauma. Partial-volume averaging of two lumbar vertebrae suggested a spinal fracture in four children. All four pseudofractures were oriented in a plane perpendicular to the deformity.

Kickstand rods and correction of coronal malalignment in patients with adult spinal deformity.

open access: yes, 2023
PurposeCoronal malalignment (CM) is a challenging spinal deformity to treat. The kickstand rod (KR) technique is powerful for correcting truncal shift. This study tested the hypothesis that the KR technique provides superior coronal alignment correction ...

Early Clinical, Imaging, and Pathological Characteristics of SRPK3/TTN‐Digenic Myopathy

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective SRPK3/TTN‐digenic myopathy was recently established as a skeletal muscle myopathy caused by digenic inheritance. This study characterizes the early clinical presentation of SRPK3/TTN‐digenic myopathy in one previously reported and seven newly identified pediatric patients.

Poly-3-hydroxybutyrate-co-3-hydroxyvalerate(PHBV)-Polyethylene glycol 20k(PEG20k) as a promising delivery system for PT2399 in the treatment of disc degeneration

open access: yesJournal of Biological Engineering
Disc degeneration often leads to a highly prevalent symptom known as low back pain. Healthy nucleus pulposus tissue exhibited a hypoxic environment devoid of blood vessels, while degenerated nucleus pulposus experienced hypoxic deterioration and the ...

Cognitive and Neuroimaging Divergence Between Juvenile and Adult FUS Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a neurodegenerative disorder characterized by progressive motor neuron degeneration. Fused in sarcoma (FUS)‐associated juvenile ALS (jALS) represents a distinct and aggressive subgroup with rapid deterioration and poor prognosis.

Complications of adult spinal deformity surgery: A literature review

open access: yesJournal of Craniovertebral Junction and Spine, 2022
Purpose: Adult spinal deformity incidence increases accordingly as the population ages. Even though surgery is the best option for the treatment, the complications due to surgery are pretty challenging. This study aims to review the complication rates of

Experimental and Numerical Modal Analysis of Composite Sandwich Structures Using Surfboards as Model Systems

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This article presents an experimental and numerical modal investigation of composite sandwich structures using surfboards as model systems. By comparing different core materials and reinforcement strategies, the study demonstrates how local stiffeners influence vibrational response and introduce characteristic modal features, highlighting modal ...

Artificial intelligence clustering of adult spinal deformity sagittal plane morphology predicts surgical characteristics, alignment, and outcomes.

open access: yes, 2023
PurposeAI algorithms have shown promise in medical image analysis. Previous studies of ASD clusters have analyzed alignment metrics-this study sought to complement these efforts by analyzing images of sagittal anatomical spinopelvic landmarks.
