Spinal deformities and pseudofractures [PDF]
Nine children with spinal deformities had CT examinations after sustaining blunt abdominal trauma. Partial-volume averaging of two lumbar vertebrae suggested a spinal fracture in four children. All four pseudofractures were oriented in a plane perpendicular to the deformity.

Bioinspired Shape‐Memory Hook Fasteners With Programmable Interlocking and Silent Release
Bioinspired hook fasteners made from epoxy shape‐memory polymers are shown to switch between strong, secure attachment and gentle, silent release when heated. By combining programmable geometry and material response, these adaptive fasteners outperform commercial systems in strength and noise control, enabling new solutions for robotics, medical ...

Spinal deformity and paraplegia [PDF]
The salient features are given of 35 patients with severe non-tuberculous kyphosis who later developed paraplegia. No correlation could be found between the degree of kyphosis and the neurological impairment. In other words, many patients with similar or more severe deformities do not develop paraplegia.
