Surgical Anatomy of the Spinal Accessory Nerve in the Posterior Triangle of the Neck

open access: yesAsian Journal of Surgery, 2005
The major complication of neck dissection and surgery at the posterior triangle of the neck is severe disability of the shoulder or “shoulder syndrome”, which results from spinal accessory nerve injury.

Early Clinical, Imaging, and Pathological Characteristics of SRPK3/TTN‐Digenic Myopathy

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective SRPK3/TTN‐digenic myopathy was recently established as a skeletal muscle myopathy caused by digenic inheritance. This study characterizes the early clinical presentation of SRPK3/TTN‐digenic myopathy in one previously reported and seven newly identified pediatric patients.

Role of Spinal P2Y and P2Y Receptors in Neuropathic Pain in Rats: Possible Involvement of Glial Cells

open access: yesMolecular Pain, 2014
Background: The participation of spinal P2X receptors in neuropathic pain is well recognized. However, the role of P2Y receptors has been less studied. The purpose of this study was to investigate the contribution of spinal P2Y 6,11 receptors following ...

Spinal cord functions renewing after it’s traumatic injury forming neural anastomosis

open access: yesUkrainian Neurosurgical Journal, 2011
Bypass surgery in spinal collaterals forming is an important alternative to other surgical and conservative methods of treatment, directed on conductivity renewing in damaged locus of spinal cord.Treatment results of 21 patients with ...

Temporal changes in the spinal cord transcriptome after peripheral nerve injury

open access: yesNeural Regeneration Research, 2020
Peripheral nerve injury may trigger changes in mRNA levels in the spinal cord. Finding key mRNAs is important for improving repair after nerve injury. This study aimed to investigate changes in mRNAs in the spinal cord following sciatic nerve injury by ...

Nuclear expression of PG-21, SRC-1, and pCREB in regions of the lumbosacral spinal cord involved in pelvic innervation in young adult and aged rats

open access: yes, 2012
In rats, ageing results in dysfunctional patterns of micturition and diminished sexual reflexes that may reflect degenerative changes within spinal circuitry.

Remarkable Recovery After Delayed High‐Dose Methylprednisolone in a Rare Case of Penetrating Spinal Cord Injury

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Traumatic spinal cord injury (TSCI) caused by sharp‐force penetration is exceptionally rare, and the use of high‐dose methylprednisolone (MP) remains highly controversial, especially beyond the conventional 8‐h treatment window. This case report describes a 30‐year‐old male with acute incomplete TSCI following a knife stab wound to the right ...

External branch spinal nerve paralysis on keloid scar

open access: yesThe Pan African Medical Journal, 2016
The paralysis of the external branch of spinal nerve is very rare. It manifests clinically by a weakness and abnormal morphology of the shoulder. We must think about it in front of any simple surgery of the cervical region.

FORMATION OF SPINAL NERVES. POSTERIOR BRANCHES OF SPINAL NERVES.

open access: yes
Each nerve forms from nerve fibers, known as fila radicularia, extending from the posterior (dorsal) and anterior (ventral) roots of the spinal cord. The roots connect via interneurons. Grossly, the root fibers join together within the intervertebral foramina to form a spinal nerve. Spinal nerves are the nerves that start from the spinal cord in humans.
