Design of carbon fiber composite shafts for high speed air spindles
Composite Structures, 2002For the stable operation of high speed air spindles, the low rotational inertia and high damping ratio of spindle shafts as well as high fundamental natural frequency are indispensable. Conventional steel spindles are not appropriate for high speed operation because of their high rotational inertia and low damping ratio. In this study, a high-speed air

Demonstrating a vapor chamber cooling structure for the shaft of motor spindles
Applied Thermal EngineeringThe thermally induced deformation of motor spindles, which is an essential component of machine tool, takes significant responsibility for the overall processing errors. Traditionally, water-cooling-circuit is applied to dissipate the heat generated in the built-in motor and the bearings.

Dynamic characteristics of a HDD spindle system due to imperfect roundness of shaft
2009 Asia-Pacific Magnetic Recording Conference, 2009This research proposes a modified Reynolds equation for the coupled journal and thrust FDBs to include the variable film thickness due to the imperfect roundness of a rotating shaft. Finite element method is used to solve the Reynolds equation to determine pressure, reaction force and friction torque.

2020 IEEE KhPI Week on Advanced Technology (KhPIWeek), 2020
In this paper a mathematical model and a computational technique for the static analysis of multi-support stepped spindle shafts on nonlinear elastic supports are presented. On the basis of the Timoshenko differential equation of the beam's bent axis and the method of initial parameters, a resolving system of equations is obtained that takes into ...

Stepped spindle motor shaft to reduce disk drive acoustic noise
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1998A spindle motor shaft having variable geometrical features for adjusting the torsion mode frequency of the shaft/stator assembly. The variable geometric features allow the torsion mode frequency to be tuned away from the driving force frequency of the motor.

Summary form only given. The purposes of this paper are (a) to obtain experimental results that reveal all the significant modes of fluid-dynamic bearing (FDB) spindles, and (b) to verify an existing mathematical model with our experimental results. The experimental results indicate three sets of rocking modes and a set of axial modes.

Large-bore aspiration catheters (ACs) are used successfully in mechanical thrombectomy (MT). However, tortuous access routes prevent device navigation because of the ledge effect. The AXS Offset Delivery Assist Catheter is designed to reduce the ledge effect.
