Cordierite-spinel-quartz assemblages: A potential geobarometer [PDF]

open access: yesBulletin of the Geological Society of Finland, 1986
The composition of (Mg-Zn-Fe+2)-aluminate-spinel coexisting with cordierite and quartz is potentially a sensitive geobarometer in rock types such as cordierite ‒ anthophyllite rocks which are not well suited to most other geobarometers.

Optical constants of refractory oxides at high temperatures

open access: yes, 2013
Many cosmic dust species, among them refractory oxides, form at temperatures higher than 300 K. Nevertheless, most astrophysical studies are based on the room-temperature optical constants of solids, such as corundum and spinel. A more realistic approach

Preparation and electrical properties of dense micro-cermets made of nickel ferrite and metallic copper [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Dense micro-cermets made of nickel ferrites and copper micrometric particles were obtained from partial reduction under hydrogenated atmosphere at 350 C of mixed copper nickel ferrites, and sintering in nitrogen at 980 C.

Interaction between Molten Al‐Killed Mn–B Steel and Carbon‐Bonded MgO Refractories Based on Recyclates

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
High‐temperature interactions between low‐sulfur Al‐killed Mn–B steel and MgO–C refractories (0 and 50 wt% recyclates) are studied via finger immersion tests (1600 °C). Surface‐active elements influence infiltration. MgO/CaS layer forms, along with spinel and calcium silicate.

First-principles study of possible shallow donors in ZnAl2O4 spinel [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
ZnAl2O4 (gahnite) is a ceramic which is considered a possible transparent conducting oxide (TCO) due to its wide band gap and transparency for UV. Defects play an important role in controlling the conductivity of a TCO material along with the dopant ...

Atomic Size Misfit for Electrocatalytic Small Molecule Activation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This review explores the application and mechanisms of atomic size misfit in catalysis for small molecule activation, focusing on how structural defects and electronic properties can effectively lower the energy barriers of chemical bonds in molecules like H2O, CO2, and N2.

Formação in-situ ou adição de espinélio pré-formado: o que é melhor para concretos refratários aluminosos? In-situ formation or pre-formed spinel addition: which one is better for high alumina refractory castable?

Magneto-dielectric and Magneto-resistive in the Mixed Spinel MgFe2O4

open access: yes, 2017
The mixed spinel, MgFe2O4 has been synthesized by ball-milling assisted sintering method. X-ray diffraction study confirms formation of cubic MgFe2O4 and the lattice parameter values calculated are a = b = c = 8.369(3) {\AA}.
