Efficacy and Safety of the Use of Interspinous Spacers in the Treatment of Lumbar Spinal Stenosis: Mapping Gap and Scoping Review

open access: yesPain Practice, Volume 26, Issue 5, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Objectives Low back pain is a common pathology in the general population. In people over 60 years of age, it is associated with degenerative changes that cause narrowing of the vertebral canal. Its treatment includes conservative measures and even surgery with decompression and fusion.

Reduced spinopelvic mobility does not correlate with knee flexion deformity in patients undergoing total knee arthroplasty

open access: yesKnee Surgery, Sports Traumatology, Arthroscopy, Volume 34, Issue 4, Page 1346-1353, April 2026.
Abstract Purpose The aim of this study was to evaluate the impact of reduced spinopelvic mobility (SM) on knee flexion deformity (KFD) in patients undergoing total knee arthroplasty (TKA). Methods A retrospective analysis on 213 patients (271 knees) undergoing robotic‐assisted primary TKA was conducted.

A Case Report on Complex Sacral Fracture Treated by Spinopelvic Fixation

open access: yesJournal of Orthopaedic Association of South Indian States, 2023
Abstract Unstable sacral fractures are mostly associated with spinopelvic instability. This type of fracture occurs following a fall from height or a high-energy mechanism. Roy–Camille’s classification system helps in identifying and treating those fractures.

The effect of screw type (S2-alar-iliac and iliac), screw length, and screw head angle on biomechanical characteristics after spinopelvic fixation technique: a finite element analysis v1

open access: yes, 2018
Purpose: Spinopelvic fixations involving the S2-alar-iliac (S2AI) and iliac screws are commonly used in various spinal fusion surgeries. We aimed to compare the biomechanical characteristics of S2AI screw fixation with those of iliac screw fixation using

Cerebrospinal fluid-cutaneous fistula associated with post-traumatic Charcot spinal arthropathy: a case report and review of literature

open access: yesBMC Musculoskeletal Disorders, 2020
Background Charcot spinal arthropathy, also known as Charcot spine and neuropathic spinal arthropathy, is a progressive and destructive condition that affects an intervertebral disc and the adjacent vertebral bodies following loss of spinal joint ...

Minimally invasive 360-degree pelvic ring fixation using a combination of crab-shaped fixation and pelvic internal fixator for unstable pelvic ring fracture: A case report

open access: yesTrauma Case Reports, 2021
Surgery with both anterior and posterior fixation is recommended for unstable pelvic ring fractures; nonetheless, the surgical method remains controversial.

Changes in Fall Risk After Total Hip Arthroplasty for Dysplastic Hip Osteoarthritis

open access: yesOrthopaedic Surgery, Volume 18, Issue 4, Page 866-873, April 2026.
Total hip arthroplasty reduced fall risk in patients with dysplastic hip osteoarthritis at high fall risk. Older age, low preoperative lumbar lordosis, and postoperative perceived leg length discrepancy were associated with higher postoperative fall risk.

Analysis of Risk Factors for Adjacent Segment Disease After Lumbar Facet Joint Fusion

open access: yesOrthopaedic Surgery, Volume 18, Issue 3, Page 433-442, March 2026.
This schematic illustrates a novel posterior lumbar fusion procedure targeting L4–L5 segments, with emphasis on the position of split bone and the precise site of bone grafting. Featuring “active generation + real‐time verification” and intact posterior tension band, this technique achieves precise segmental lordosis restoration with enhanced ...

Suicidal jumper’s fracture – sacral fractures and spinopelvic instability: a case series

open access: yesJournal of Medical Case Reports, 2018
Background Sacral fractures with spinopelvic dissociation are rare, and hard to diagnose and treat. Fractures with a H- or U-shaped line are severely unstable, due to a dissociation of the spine and of the upper body of the sacrum from the pelvis.

Radiologic Insights: Diagnosing Lumbosacral Transitional Vertebrae. Systematic Review of the Literature

open access: yesPain Practice, Volume 26, Issue 3, March 2026.
ABSTRACT Introduction The lumbosacral transitional vertebra (LSTV) has been studied since 1876, with Castellvi developing a classification in 1984 based on its anatomy and laterality. It often goes unnoticed, or its diagnosis is limited to a lumbar spine X‐ray for confirmation. This has led to LSTV being underdiagnosed or even ignored.
