Cells of origin of the spinothalamic tract in the cat and rat

Experimental Neurology, 1968
Abstract A stimulating electrode was placed in the medial lemniscus at its entry point into the thalamus of cats and rats. The gray matter of spinal cord was searched with microelectrodes for cells responding antidromically to stimulation in the medial lemniscus.

An anatomical reinvestigation of the termination of the spinothalamic tract in the monkey

Journal of Comparative Neurology, 1979
AbstractThe projections of the spinothalamic tract in the macaque monkey have been reinvestigated using the Wiitanen modification of the Fink‐Heimer technique. In agreement with previous studies in the monkey (Mehler, Bowsher, Kerr) it was found that the spinothalamic tract ascends outside the medial lemniscus, enters the thalamus just dorsal to this ...

Distribution and morphology of spinothalamic tract neurons in the rat

Anatomy and Embryology, 1997
Previous studies showed that spinothalamic tract (STT) neurons in the dorsal horn head have a distinct laminar organization that corresponds to the cytoarchitectonic divisions. However, groupings of STT neurons in the deeper part of the spinal gray matter have not yet been established, since, in these regions, the distribution of STT neurons with ...
