Splenic infarction associated with obstructive sleep apnoea/hypopnoea syndrome: a case report
Splenic infarction is rare, resulting from occlusion of the splenic artery or its branches. Its aetiology is complex and multifactorial involving various vascular and thrombotic diseases, thus, misdiagnosis or missed diagnosis is common.

The image shows a schematic form a nanobody‐conjugated theranostic prodrug (NBD) platform targeting tumor‐associated αvβ3 integrin. The NBD system integrates selective nanobody‐mediated tumor recognition, glutathione‐responsive disulfide cleavage for doxorubicin release, and aza‐BODIPY‐based near‐infrared fluorescence for real‐time imaging.

Isolated Splenic Vein Thrombosis: An Unusual Cause and Review of the Literature
Isolated obstruction (mainly due to thrombosis) of the splenic vein usually results in left-sided portal hypertension and isolated fundal varice formation. This syndrome is a rare cause of gastrointestinal bleeding. Pancreatic diseases are among the most

Nanotherapies for Atherosclerosis: Targeting, Catalysis, and Energy Transduction
Atherosclerosis management is hindered by poor drug targeting and plaque heterogeneity. Nanotechnology overcomes these barriers via three core strategies: (1) target‐engineered nanocarriers that achieve lesion‐specific precision via ligand modification, biomimetic camouflage, stimuli‐responsive release, and self‐propelling nanomotors; (2) catalytic ...

Enhanced Endoscopic Internal Drainage of Gastric Abscess Through Additively Manufactured Stents
Postoperative gastric leaks are often treated with off‐label biliary double‐pigtail stents, yet conventional extruded designs are not optimized for leak anatomy, can migrate, and may limit abscess evacuation. PETALS is introduced to optimize transmural drainage geometry and enable patient‐specific 3D‐printable stents.

CORE: Cholesterol Altered Lipid Nanoparticles for Splenic Expression of mRNA Payloads
In this paper researchers introduce CORE LNPs, a new class of lipid nanoparticles engineered to redirect mRNA expression away from the liver and into the spleen, a key immune organ. By combining chemical design with computational tools, they created cholesterol analogs that enable precise spleen‐targeted expression, providing greater applications for ...

Field evaluation of rK39 test and direct agglutination test for diagnosis of visceral leishmaniasis in a population with high prevalence of human immunodeficiency virus in Ethiopia [PDF]
Accuracy of an rK39 rapid diagnostic test (DiaMed-IT-Leish ) for visceral leishmaniasis (VL) was compared with splenic aspiration and the direct agglutination test (DAT) in a population with a high prevalence of infection with human immunodeficiency ...

Respiratory Organ‐on‐a‐Chip for Disease Modeling: From Architecture to Functional Integration
Respiratory organ‐on‐a‐chip (ROC) models capture key mechanical and cellular cues of the human respiratory system, enabling quantitative dissection of disease mechanisms. This review links ROC architectures to disease modeling, functional integration, and commercialization, and proposes a decision framework that aligns model complexity with mechanistic
