Splines and Spline Fitting Revisited

1996
This paper presents a detailed summary of the properties and basic facts about spline spaces and their B-spline bases. Examination is made of the many different joint-continuity conditions. Geometric continuity constraints are of special interest, as they appear to satisfy visual needs of the human observers.

Comparing B-Spline and Spline Models for F0 Modelling

2006
This article describes a new approach to estimate F0 curves using B-spline and Spline models characterized by a knot sequence and associated control points The free parameters of the model are the number of knots and their location The free-knot placement, which is a NP-hard problem, is done using a global MLE (Maximum Likelihood Estimation) within a ...

Spatially Adaptive Bayesian Penalized Regression Splines (P-splines)

Journal of Computational and Graphical Statistics, 2005
In this article we study penalized regression splines (P-splines), which are low-order basis splines with a penalty to avoid undersmoothing. Such P-splines are typically not spatially adaptive, and hence can have trouble when functions are varying rapidly.

X-splines

Proceedings of the 22nd annual conference on Computer graphics and interactive techniques - SIGGRAPH '95, 1995
This paper presents a new model of spline curves and surfaces. The main characteristic of this model is that it has been created from scratch by using a kind of mathematical engineering process. In a first step, a list of specifications was established.

Controllable Locality in C2 Interpolating Curves by B2‐splines / S‐splines

Computer Graphics Forum, 1994
AbstractThis paper presents a systematic scheme for controlling the local behaviour of C2 interpolating curves, based on the cubic B2‐splines and the quartic S‐splines. Both splines have an additional control point obtained by knot‐ insertion or degree‐elevation in each span of the conventional uniform cubic interpolating B‐splines.

Method to Interpolate Scattered Rainfall Data Using the Thin Plate Spline, B-Spline and Energy Fairing

2009 Sixth International Conference on Fuzzy Systems and Knowledge Discovery, 2009
This paper aims at constructing a smooth surface using scattered rainfall data to gives us a visual distribution of rainfall. A grid is superimposed on the map within the data boundary, and thin plate spline (TPS) method is used to interpolate rainfall data to obtain the values of the grid points.

FPGA-based hardware CNC interpolator of Bezier, splines, B-splines and NURBS curves for industrial applications

Computers & Industrial Engineering, 2013
Tool path interpolation is an important part of Computerized Numerical Control (CNC) systems because it is related to the machining accuracy, tool-motion smoothness and overall efficiency. The use of parametric curves to generate tool-motion trajectories on a workpiece for high accuracy machining has become a standard data format that is used for CAD ...
