A quadratic spline function generator

IEEE Transactions on Acoustics, Speech, and Signal Processing, 1989
A function generator is developed which purges digital-to-analog (D-A) conversion of phase distortions by replacing both the hold circuit and the analog low-pass filter. This generator implements interpolation of a discrete-time signal by a quadratic spline function which is a smooth piecewise polynomial. Fidelity in the amplitude characteristic of the

Image restoration by spline functions

Applied Optics, 1978
Spline functions, because of their highly desirable interpolating and approximating characteristics, are used as a potential alternative to the conventional pulse approximation method in digital image processing. In space-invariant imaging systems, the object and point-spread function are represented by a class of spline functions called B-splines ...

Extrema detection of bivariate spline functions

Applied Mathematics and Computation, 2007
The problem of finding the extrema of a two-variable spline function \(x(s,t)\) of degree \(k\geq 3\), in a rectangle \(\mathcal{D}\subset \mathbb{R}^2\), is examined. In this respect, a method is developed which allows to detect the extrema of \(x(s,t)\) as well as of their derivatives.

Window functions represented by B-spline functions

IEEE Transactions on Acoustics, Speech, and Signal Processing, 1989
Characteristics of window functions provided by B-spline functions are analyzed in comparison to other known windows. For the same highest-sidelobe level, those windows have a mainlobe bandwidth between those of Gaussian and cos/sup a/ x windows are as good as those of cos/sup a/ x ones in the sidelobe falloff. >

Computing zeroes of spline functions

Computer Aided Geometric Design, 1989
The interval Newton method \(X:=m-f(m)/f'(x),\) where m is the midpoint of the interval X and \(f'(X)\) is an interval that contains the set \(\{f'(x):\) \(x\in X\}\) is applied to the computation of all zeroes of a spline function f of one variable in a given interval.

On the Computation of Nonlinear Spline Functions

SIAM Journal on Numerical Analysis, 1977
A mathematical characterization of nonlinear interpolating spline curves is developed through a variational calculus approach, based on the Euler–Bernoulli large-deflection theory for the bending of thin beams or elastica. Algorithms previously proposed for computing discrete approximations of nonlinear interpolating splines are discussed and compared.
