Serum Bile Acids Are Useful Indicators of Intrahepatic Recurrence After Initial Curative Hepatectomy for Hepatocellular Carcinoma

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Aim Bile acids accumulation in hepatocytes causes liver damage and contributes to the development of hepatocellular carcinoma. However, the association between serum bile acid levels and postoperative intrahepatic recurrence in hepatocellular carcinoma remains unclear.

Impact of Abdominoperineal Resection on Postoperative Male Sexual Function After Minimally Invasive Rectal Cancer Surgery: A Subgroup Analysis From the LANDMARC Study

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
Abdominoperineal resection (APR) after minimally invasive rectal cancer surgery was associated with significantly higher rates of erectile and early ejaculatory dysfunction compared with anal‐sparing surgery. Although ejaculatory function showed partial recovery over time, erectile dysfunction persisted up to 12 months postoperatively.

opXRD: Open Experimental Powder X‐Ray Diffraction Database

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Discovery, EarlyView.
We introduce the Open Experimental Powder X‐ray Diffraction Database, the largest openly accessible collection of experimental powder diffractograms, comprising over 92,000 patterns collected across diverse material classes and experimental setups. Our ongoing effort aims to guide machine learning research toward fully automated analysis of pXRD data ...

About one algorithm of bidimensional interpolation using splines [PDF]

open access: yesComputer Science Journal of Moldova, 2011
In the paper an explicit algorithm for the problem of two-dimensional spline interpolation on a rectangular grid is proposed. MSC2000: 41A05, 41A15, 65D05, 65D07.

Explaining the Origin of Negative Poisson's Ratio in Amorphous Networks With Machine Learning

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Discovery, EarlyView.
This review summarizes how machine learning (ML) breaks the “vicious cycle” in designing auxetic amorphous networks. By transitioning from traditional “black‐box” optimization to an interpretable “AI‐Physics” closed‐loop paradigm, ML is shown to not only discover highly optimized structures—such as all‐convex polygon networks—but also unveil hidden ...

On Some Generalization of Smoothing Problems

open access: yesMathematical Modelling and Analysis, 2015
The paper deals with the generalized smoothing problem in abstract Hilbert spaces. This generalized problem involves particular cases such as the interpolating problem, the smoothing problem with weights, the smoothing problem with obstacles, the problem

Exponential Splines and Pseudo-Splines: Generation versus reproduction of exponential polynomials

open access: yes, 2014
Subdivision schemes are iterative methods for the design of smooth curves and surfaces. Any linear subdivision scheme can be identified by a sequence of Laurent polynomials, also called subdivision symbols, which describe the linear rules determining ...

Robot‐Assisted Measurement of the Critical Micelle Concentration

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, Volume 7, Issue 3, March 2025.
The study introduces (SIMO) smart integrator for manual operations, a robotic platform for precise, repeatable determination of (CMC) critical micelle concentration in surfactants. SIMO reduces standard deviation by 80% compared to manual methods. Surfactant, dye, and diluent selection, robotic protocols, and data handling are detailed.

Adapted B-Spline Quasi-Interpolation for Approximating Piecewise Smooth Functions

open access: yesAlgorithms
We address the challenge of efficiently approximating piecewise smooth functions, particularly those with jump discontinuities. Given function values on a uniform grid over a domain Ω in Rd, we present a novel B-spline-based approximation framework ...
