Split-type air conditioners (SACs) are widely used in households and offices. To aid the design of a SAC, this study develops a theoretical thermohydraulic and condensing phase-change model for the two-dimensional indoor unit of a small-sized SAC.

Experimental Assessment of a Domestic Split Type Air-Conditioner Working with R410A
The objective of the present work is to assess experimentally the performance characteristics of a R410A domestic air conditioner under different in-door operating conditions. In order to achieve this objective, a test facility of the investigated system is developed and experiments are conducted.

Buildings often use air conditioning systems to regulate the indoor thermal environment in terms of temperature and humidity. These parameters are hard to control within the desired limits by only using traditional constant-speed compressors and ...

Liver organoids: modelling complexity in homeostasis and disease
Studying liver in vitro has been challenging because simple 2D cell cultures fail to capture liver's cellular and architectural complexity. To bridge this gap, scientists increasingly use organoids, 3D liver models which better mimic liver composition and function. This review examines recent advances in liver organoid complexity and realism, discusses

Synechocystis strains deficient in succinate dehydrogenase (SDH) secrete more succinate than the WT under dark anaerobic conditions, supporting that SDH then primarily acts as SDH, not as a fumarate reductase. L‐aspartate oxidase (Laspo) from Synechocystis is functional under anaerobic conditions, reducing fumarate to succinate.

Artificial molecular machines and motors—Design and control of nanoscale motion
Molecules are constantly moving because of thermal fluctuations, but random motion alone cannot be exploited to perform directional tasks. Artificial molecular machines use chemical, electrical, or light energy to bias this motion. Molecular shuttles, rotary motors, and supramolecular pumps illustrate how nanoscale movement can be controlled and ...
