Experimental and numerical investigations on split Hopkinson pressure bar

open access: yes, 2008
Split Hopkinson Pressure Bar (SHPB) has become a frequently used technique for measuring an uniaxial compressive stress-strain relationship of various engineering materials under high strain rates, the pulse shape is sensitive to the length of striker ...

Split-Hopkinson Pressure Bar SHPB tests on SEBS Soft Tissue Simulants

open access: yes, 2019
High strain rate Split-Hopkinson Pressure Bar Tests on 10%, 15%, and 20% G1650, and G1652 SEBS in mineral oil soft tissue simulants. The excel files provide the stress-strain data with the first column being the strain, and the second column being the ...

Energy dissipation rate: An indicator of coal deformation and failure under static and dynamic compressive loads

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mining Science and Technology, 2018
Dynamic disasters in Chinese coal mines pose a significant threat to coal productivity. Thus, a thorough understanding of the deformation and failure processes of coal is necessary.

A measurement of wave propagation in the split Hopkinson pressure bar

open access: yesMeasurement Science and Technology, 2009
This paper presents results from optical and analytical measurements of stress wave propagation in a rod of PMMA. The rod is loaded between the incident and transmitter bars of a split Hopkinson pressure bar. Displacements in the rod are measured using high speed photography with digital image correlation.

Split Hopkinson pressure bar tensile testing

open access: yes, 2021
The Split Hopkinson Pressure Bar (SHPB) is an experimental technique used to investigate the mechanical properties of a material at different loading conditions under high strain rates, ranging from 1,000s-1 to 10,000s-1 .

Tracking deformation history in split Hopkinson pressure bar testing

open access: yes, 2015
The stress vs. strain curve of materials is affected the rate of imposed straining. Among the methods for dynamic testing the technique known as 'split Hopkinson pressure bar' (SHPB) has evolved into the most widely used one to exert high-speed straining.
