Rabi splitting with excitons in effective (near) zero-index media
Optics Letters, 2007We study theoretically the properties of a thin film of a semiconductor embedded in the interface of two kinds of single-negative materials. At some frequencies the structure with suitable size is equivalent to an effective (near) zero-index medium. The coupling of exciton resonance in the semiconductor and the interface mode in a zero-index medium ...

Ultra-Sensitive Refractive Index Sensor Utilizing Plasmonic Resonance Splitting
CLEO: 2014, 2014We demonstrate experimentally an ultra-sensitive RI sensor based on plasmonic slot nano-antenna arrays utilizing a novel resonance splitting phenomenon observed at small incidence angles. Sensitivities exceeding 1000nm/RIU and high FOM exceeding 50 are demonstrated.

Near-Zero-Index Split Ring Resonator: A Lens Antenna

PageRank: Splitting Homogeneous Singular Linear Systems of Index One
2009The PageRank algorithm is used today within web information retrieval to provide a content-neutral ranking metric over web pages. It employs power method iterations to solve for the steady-state vector of a DTMC. The defining one-step probability transition matrix of this DTMC is derived from the hyperlink structure of the web and a model of web ...
