Split-hand index for the diagnosis of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis

Clinical Neurophysiology, 2013
Preferential wasting of the thenar group of muscles, the split hand sign, appears to be a specific feature of ALS. The present study developed a novel split-hand index (SI) and assessed its diagnostic utility in ALS.One hundred and seventy consecutive patients with neuromuscular symptoms (44 ALS, 126 patients with other neuromuscular disorders) were ...

Index Set Splitting

International Journal of Parallel Programming, 2000
There are many algorithms for the space-time mapping of nested loops. Some of them even make the optimal choices within their framework. We propose a preprocessing phase for algorithms in the polytope model, which extends the model and yields space-time mappings whose schedule is, in some cases, orders of magnitude faster.

The Splitting Index: Construction of a Scale Measuring the Defense Mechanism of Splitting

Journal of Personality Assessment, 1996
The Splitting Index (SI), a self-report scale based on the writings of Kernberg (e.g., 1976) on self and object representations and the defense mechanism of splitting, was constructed. After development over the course of 6 pilot studies, the SI was validated through 2 further studies.

Index splitting for complex objects in parallel environments

Systems and Computers in Japan, 1997
Many indexing techniques for complex objects have been developed, but most of them are intended for a single-machine environment. By dividing a large index into subindexes and placing each of them on a separate machine, we can get good efficiency of index operations through parallelism.

DIAGNOSTIC UTILITY OF SPLIT HAND INDEX IN ALS

INDIAN JOURNAL OF APPLIED RESEARCH, 2023
Introduction: Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis is a rare motor neurodegenerative disease in adults characterized by both UMN and LMN signs. Assessment of Split Hand Index through a simple electrophysiological study helps in early diagnosis of ALS. This is study is prospective observational study conducted in Materials &Methods: department of Neurology

Block Splitting Indexing for Supporting Containment Queries

2003
There is structural discrepancy between XML documents and relational databases. The structural information should be represented additionally when XML documents are stored in relational databases. Numbering schemes have been proposed for representing the structural information of XML documents.

On the Mathematics of Income Inequality: Splitting the Gini Index in Two

The American Mathematical Monthly, 2012
Income distribution is described by a two-parameter model for the Lorenz curve. This model interpolates between self-similar behavior at the low and high ends of the income spectrum, and naturally ...

Split size‐rank models for the distribution of index terms

Journal of the American Society for Information Science, 1985
AbstractSince the introduction of the Zipf distribution, many functions have been suggested for the frequency of words in text. Some of these models have also been applied to the distribution of index terms in a set of documents. The models are of two forms: rank‐frequency and frequency‐size.
