V-splitter with adjustable power splitting ratio

Optical and Quantum Electronics, 2017
A novel graded-index silica-glass V-shape optical splitter is numerically demonstrated. The compact-size 1 × 2 V-splitter design and performance evaluation are performed using finite-difference-time-domain method. The power splitting-ratio can be adjusted during design by simply shifting the splitter input core laterally with respect to its V-shape ...

Topology Optimized Y-junction with Arbitrary Split Ratios

International Photonics and OptoElectronics Meeting 2019 (OFDA, OEDI, ISST, PE, LST, TSA), 2019
We propose a topology optimization which is able to design an ultra-compact asymmetric Y-junction with footprint of only 1.5μm×1.3μm. The device can achieve arbitrary power split ratios over a broad spectral range.

Split thickness skin graft meshing ratio indications and common practices

Burns, 2017
Split thickness skin grafting is a commonly used technique in burn surgery for resurfacing wounds that are unlikely to heal without scarring. Meshing and expanding skin grafts allow for reconstruction of larger wounds with smaller donor sites.A retrospective chart review was performed of 210 patients with burns equal to or greater than 20% total body ...

Dependence of the splitting ratio on column temperature in split injection capillary gas chromatography

Journal of Chromatography A, 1982
Abstract The amount of sample entering a capillary column during split injection increases considerably if the major component (e.g., the solvent) recondenses in the column inlet. Owing to the reduction in volume during the recondensation, additional sample vapour is sucked into the column.

Compact plasmonic dichroic splitting with high splitting ratio based on a cascaded-grating structure

Journal of the Optical Society of America B, 2014
A compact dichroic surface plasmon polariton (SPP) splitting scheme composed of two cascaded subgratings of different dimensions is proposed and investigated. The normal incident photons illuminated on the dichroic splitting structure are converted to surface plasmons traveling to the left or right depending on the wavelength.

Topological beam splitting with a tunable splitting ratio: application to quantum walks

Journal of the Optical Society of America B
Topological beam splitting (BS) based on edge states with unique properties such as unidirectionality, robustness to impurities or defects, and anti-scattering shows broad prospects in building high-performance photonic chips. The tunable splitting ratio is extremely important for the practical application of topological BS.

Influence of waveguide structure on Y-branch splitting ratio

SPIE Proceedings, 2014
It is well known that the main problem in the Y-branch splitting approach is the processing of the branching point where two waveguides start to separate. This is technologically very difficult; leading generally to an asymmetric splitting ratio causing non-uniformity of the split power over all the output waveguides. In this work we show that not only

Broadband photonic RF quadrifilar with reconfigurable power splitting ratio

Optics Communications, 2016
Abstract An all-optical 4-way photonic RF power splitter with quadrature-phase outputs is presented. It is based on using the new power splitting and independent optical phase control function in a Fourier-domain optical processor to split a single-wavelength phase modulated optical signal into four with the desired optical phases at different ...

Optical Fiber Non-Destructive Coupler With Tunable Splitting Ratio

SPIE Proceedings, 1986
A powerful Hamiltonian theory, recently developed, permits to predict numerically the mode coupling properties of mono and multimode optical fibers with any index pro-file. Theoretical and experimental results are presented;the observation of a sharp radiation light cone emitted by a localized point of a pseudo-periodically deformed fiber has resulted ...
