Sustainable performance measurement (SPMs) model: effects of product technology and process technology [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Malaysia as a developing country is in the transformation process of becoming an industrialised nation, as stated in Vision 2020. Manufacturing industry significantly contributes to the national economic growth in Malaysia; however, the manufacturing ...

Electrostriction: it is just a phase

open access: yesNature Communications
The discovery of “giant” (or non-classical) electrostrictors has reignited interest in electrostriction, a second-order electromechanical coupling phenomenon.

Fast Hydrogel Micro‐Actuators Driven by Electric Fields

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
We report the fabrication of chemically programmable electroactuating microstructures through the first integration of two‐photon polymerization with electrically actuated gelatin methacrylate‐based hydrogels. By tailoring the charge of the polymer network, we demonstrate programmable polarity‐dependent bending, enabling microstructures that ...

Skin‐Like Tri‐Modal Sensors Based on Soft Piezoelectric and Ionic Composites

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Inspired by the multimodal perception of human skin, a soft, skin‐like tri‐modal sensor is presented. The device incorporates an ionically conductive, piezoelectric, elastic composite as its active layer, enabling independent detection of temperature, static strain, and dynamic strain within a single two‐terminal architecture.

Hybridization of Gap Plasmons and Grating‐Coupled Surface Plasmon Polaritons in Metal Nanoparticle Cluster Arrays on a Mirror

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
Here we use a template‐assisted self‐assembly approach of metal colloids onto metal films to produce hybrid plasmonic metasurfaces that integrate nanoparticle‐on‐mirror cavities with periodic metal colloid arrays. The resulting coupling between gap plasmons and grating‐coupled surface plasmon polaritons enables programmable hybrid modes with tailored ...

Risk of second primary malignancies in prostate cancer patients: A Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results population-based study

open access: yesAsian Journal of Urology
Objective: Second primary malignancy (SPM) is becoming a challenge in clinical practice. However, limited studies have focused on this issue in patients with prostate cancer (PCa).

Risk of Second Primary Malignancies in Colon Cancer Patients Treated With Colectomy

open access: yesFrontiers in Oncology, 2020
Background: Second primary malignancy (SPM) attracts a growing attention. However, the clinical features of colon cancer (CC) survivors with SPMs are not clear and could help guide clinicians to develop a better surveillance strategy. Methods: We reviewed

Multiferroic‐Centric Materials and Systems Engineering for Battery Applications: An Insight Into Mechanisms, Strategies, and Characterizations

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Multiferroic order parameters – polarization, magnetization, and ferroelastic strain – are positioned as dynamic design variables for batteries. Their mechanistic roles, practical tuning through fabrication and external fields, and ferroic‐resolved characterization routes are unified into a closed‐loop framework, revealing how coupled ferroic responses

A prototype software project management simulator (SPMS) [PDF]

open access: yes, 1991
The Software Project Management Simulator (SPMS) provides a setting for users, typically project managers, to study the effects of their decisions concerning staffing and scheduling of a software development project.

Biomimetic Nanoplatform for Dual Target Nano‐Metabolic Therapy in Diabetes‐Associated Biofilm Infections

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A biomimetic GOx/Arg‐loaded nanoplatform produces nitric oxide through an in situ catalytic cascade reaction, enabling dual‐target metabolic regulation in diabetes‐associated biofilm infections. Bacterial metabolism is disrupted, and macrophage immunometabolism is reprogrammed, resulting in biofilm eradication, immune restoration, and enhanced ...
