A systematic review on research trends and commercialised entomopathogenic nematodes: A global perspective

open access: yesAgricultural and Forest Entomology, Volume 28, Issue 2, Page 298-313, May 2026.
Out of 136 identified EPNs, only 18 (8 Steinernema and 6 Heterorhabditis) are commercialised globally, highlighting a major gap between discovery and application. High production costs and inconsistent field efficacy are the leading obstacles to the widespread commercialisation of EPN‐based biocontrol products.

Primera cita de Aleiodes laphygmae (Hymenoptera: Braconidae) para Argentina y de su asociación con larvas de Spodoptera eridania (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae) First record of Aleiodes laphygmae (Hymenoptera: Braconidae) for Argentina and its association with larvae of Spodoptera eridania (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae)

Molecular Phylogeny and Strain Genotyping of the Bacterial Endosymbiont Wolbachia Associated With Tuta absoluta Populations

open access: yesEntomologia Experimentalis et Applicata, Volume 174, Issue 5, Page 387-397, May 2026.
This study was designed to understand the association between reproductive endosymbiotic bacteria and wild and laboratory‐reared Tuta absoluta populations. The majority of T. absoluta populations showed Wolbachia presence at varying levels of infection, whereas Arsenophonus, Cardinium, and Spiroplasma were not detected. Wolbachia‐positive T.

Multiple-factor adoption of GM Cotton in China: Influence of conventional technology development and rural change in Jiangsu Province [PDF]

open access: yes

Spectral Characterization of the Life Stages and Physiological Responses of Diatraea saccharalis Fabricius (Lepidoptera: Crambidae) Larvae Parasitized by Cotesia flavipes Cameron (Hymenoptera: Braconidae)

open access: yesEntomologia Experimentalis et Applicata, Volume 174, Issue 5, Page 436-452, May 2026.
Hyperspectral proximal sensing was used to characterize the life stages and physiological responses of Diatraea saccharalis and to detect parasitism by Cotesia flavipes. Distinct spectral signatures differentiated eggs, larval instars, pupae, and adults, as well as live, dead, and parasitized larvae.

Evaluation of Pathogenicity to Spodoptera litura Fabricius of Different Beauveria bassiana Vuillemin Isolates Mass Multiplied on Economically Viable Substrates

open access: yesInternational Journal of Bio-Resource and Stress Management, 2011
Six isolates of Beauveria bassiana were mass multiplied using five economically viable substrates, viz. sorghum, rice bran, rice husk, press-mud and bagasse to identify the suitable substrate as wells as the vigorous isolate(s) for large scale ...

Three Closely Related Spodoptera Species Similarly Affect Gene Expression and Phytohormone Levels but Differentially Induce Volatile Emissions in Maize

open access: yesPlant, Cell &Environment, Volume 49, Issue 5, Page 2394-2412, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Plants can perceive specific elicitors in the oral secretions (OS) of herbivorous insects and respond by increasing their defences. Whether plants can discriminate among similar herbivorous insect species and differentially modulate their defence responses against them is largely unknown.

Coinfection of Spodoptera exigua and Spodoptera frugiperda cell lines with the nuclear polyhedrosis viruses of Autographa californica and Spodoptera exigua.

open access: yesIntervirology, 1999
The Autographa californica multinucleocapsid nuclear polyhedrosis virus (AcMNPV) has a broad host range among Lepidoptera. In contrast, the Spodoptera exigua MNPV (SeMNPV) can replicate efficiently only in S. exigua larvae or S. exigua-derived cell lines. In this study, we examined the coinfection of S.

Engineered Production of Hydroxycinnamoyl Tyramine Conjugates Limits the Growth of the Pathogen Pseudomonas syringae in Arabidopsis

open access: yesPlant, Cell &Environment, Volume 49, Issue 5, Page 2516-2530, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Hydroxycinnamoyl tyramine conjugates are phenolamides produced by plants in response to pathogen attack and biotic stresses. Their proposed mechanisms of action include cytotoxicity towards pathogens, cell wall reinforcement to restrict pathogen proliferation, and signaling activity to trigger general stress responses.
