Metal sorption to Spodosol Bs horizons: Organic matter complexes predominate
While metal sorption mechanisms have been studied extensively for soil surface horizons, little information exists for subsoils, for example Spodosol Bs horizons. Here the sorption of cadmium(II), copper(II) and lead(II) to seven Bs horizons from five sites was studied.

The Characteristic of Soil Developed From Felsic Sediments in West Kalimantan Province and Its Implication to Land Manageme [PDF]
Reconnaisance soil survey at 1:250.000 scale in West Kalimantan Province has been done covering 5.5 billion hectare. Result show that parent material governs formed soil properties.

Late Pliocene lakes and soils: a data-model comparison for the analysis of climate feedbacks in a warmer world [PDF]
Based on a synthesis of geological data we have reconstructed the global distribution of Late Pliocene soils and lakes which are then used as boundary conditions in a series of model experiments using the Hadley Centre General Circulation Model (HadCM3 ...

Sugarcane is poised to become a key bioenergy crop in the Southeastern United States, where its expansion may replace pasturelands. Our findings show that such land‐use transitions may incur significant carbon losses—beyond harvest or fire removals—led by rapid mineralization of legacy biomass and soil carbon upon conversion.

Espodossolos of Brazil: A review of structure and composition of classes [PDF]
Soil taxonomic systems seek to express pedogenic processes in their classes by choosing attributes or differential characteristics to identify classes at different categorical or hierarchical levels.

Phosphate elution from anion‐exchange membranes in soil analysis
Abstract Resin‐extractable phosphate (PO4‐P) is a widespread sink‐based measure of soil bioavailable phosphorus (P) used in biogeochemistry and soil fertility. However, acid elution of P may hydrolyze organic P and thus compromise measurement of PO4‐P. We evaluated sodium bicarbonate (NaHCO3) as an alternative to sulfuric acid (H2SO4) for PO4‐P elution.
