Spondyloarthritis Preceding and Following Inflammatory Bowel Disease Diagnosis and Risk Factors: A Temporal Trends Analysis in a Population‐Based Cohort

open access: yesArthritis &Rheumatology, EarlyView.
Objective Spondyloarthritides (SpA) and inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) are immune‐mediated diseases with overlap in clinical and immunologic features. However, temporal correlation of SpA and IBD in individual patients and risk factors are not well characterized.

Comorbidities in Spondyloarthritis [PDF]

open access: yesFrontiers in Medicine, 2018
Comorbidities in spondyloarthritis (SpA) add to the burden of disease by contributing to disease activity, functional and work disability, and mortality. Thus, awareness of comorbidities in SpA is crucial to improve their screening and management and to ultimately improve outcomes in those affected.

Functional Impact of Structural Damage in Psoriatic Arthritis: Insights from a Prospective Cohort Study

open access: yesArthritis &Rheumatology, Accepted Article.
Objective To examine the association between radiographic structural damage and physical function (PF) in psoriatic arthritis (PsA). Methods Data were analyzed from a large longitudinal PsA cohort. PF was measured using the Health Assessment Questionnaire (HAQ, 0‐3) and Short Form‐36 PF subscale (SF‐36, 0‐100); radiographic joint damage using modified ...

Monocytes with trained immunity–like signatures are associated with acute anterior uveitis in ankylosing spondylitis

open access: yesInterdisciplinary Medicine, EarlyView.
In ankylosing spondylitis‐acute anterior uveitis (AS‐AAU), trained immunity monocytes (Mono‐TI) differentiate into macrophages in the eye, retaining trained immunity features. Mono‐TI cells secrete pro‐inflammatory cytokines and chemokines, including IL‐1β, TNF‐α, and CCL3.

The effect of cigarette smoke exposure on the development of inflammation in lungs, gut and joints of TNFΔARE mice [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The inflammatory cytokine TNF-alpha is a central mediator in many immune-mediated diseases, such as Crohn's disease (CD), spondyloarthritis (SpA) and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).

MendelR: A One‐Stop R Toolkit for Mendelian Randomization Analysis

open access: yesMed Research, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT MendelR is a fully automated R package specifically developed for Mendelian randomization (MR) studies, designed to address the technical challenges of causal inference in biomedical research. As a powerful causal inference method, Mendelian randomization can effectively reduce confounding bias in observational studies.
