Parallel Chemical Activation and Surface Modification Activated Carbon for Lead Adsorption

open access: yesChemical Engineering &Technology, Volume 49, Issue 9, September 2026.
A novel parallel chemical activation and surface modification (PAM) approach was developed to produce palm kernel shell‐derived activated carbon in a simplified single‐step process. The resulting adsorbent achieved Pb2+ adsorption capacities comparable to conventionally prepared activated carbon (57.95 mg/g) while reducing adsorption costs by 36.6 ...

Using seed germination as a proxy in mining restoration success: Assessment of geomorphic and conventional approaches

open access: yesEcosphere, Volume 17, Issue 9, September 2026.
Abstract Mining activities, while essential for extracting valuable resources, often result in significant environmental disturbances, including landscape and soil degradation. Effective restoration strategies are crucial for mitigating these impacts and facilitating ecological recovery. This study investigates the effects of geomorphic restoration (GR)

The Dimensional Revolution of Phosphorus: From Allotropicity to Battery System Applications

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, Volume 9, Issue 5, September 2026.
Phosphorus‐based materials are promising high‐capacity anodes classified by dimension (0D–3D) to systematically explore their properties and composite strategies. When combined with materials such as carbon to form heterostructures, the electrical conductivity and stability are effectively enhanced.

Entropy‐Driven Innovations: Entropy Stabilized Oxides for High‐Performance Next‐Generation Lithium–Sulfur Batteries

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, Volume 9, Issue 5, September 2026.
This article explores high‐entropy‐stabilized oxides (HEOs) as novel functional materials for addressing critical issues in lithium–sulfur (Li–S) batteries, including lithium polysulfide (LPS) shuttling, inadequate conductivity, and slow redox kinetics.

The Olive Oil Mill as Circular Hub

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Lipid Science and Technology, Volume 128, Issue 9, September 2026.
Olive oil production generates large amounts of by‐products at every stage of the production process. The olive mill can be considered a circular hub, where such by‐products are valorized through a cascade approach that first recovers valuable compounds and then converts the remaining biomass into renewable energy.
