Fission yields in spontaneous fission of Cf252

Journal of Inorganic and Nuclear Chemistry, 1955
Abstract Spontaneous fission of Cf252 has been investigated by radiochemical determination of the yields of fifteen fission products ranging in mass number from 99 to 143. Fission is observed to be asymmetric with some indication of fine structure in the mass distribution associated with the 82-neutron shell.

Spontaneous fission activities

Nuclear Data Sheets, 1979
Abstract For several years, the Nuclear Data Project has been using a standard computer-readable format 1 to organize the results of data evaluations published in Nuclear Data Sheets . Adopted values for level energies, spins, half-lives, radiation properties, and spectroscopic factors are recorded in standard blocks of information, which are ...

Spontaneous Fission Rates

Nature, 1952
MEASUREMENTS of the spontaneous fission rates of nearly twenty nuclides have recently been published. Most of these are given in a paper by Segre1, in which he describes the work carried out at Los Alamos during the War, and also sums up the results of other experiments. Measurements on curium-242 have been published by Hanna et al.2.

On the spontaneous fission of nuclei

Nuclear Physics, 1966
Abstract Spontaneous fission half-lives are analysed in terms of the superfluid model of nuclei. The effect of the pair correlation on the parameters determining the potential barrier penetrability for fission is analysed. The difference in the spontaneous fission period for even nuclei and odd-mass nuclei is interpreted.

Bimodal fission in binary and ternary spontaneous fission of 252Cf

Physics of Atomic Nuclei, 2006
The hot bimodal fission of 252Cf is reexamined with new high-statistics data. We constructed a γ-γ-γ coincidence cube for binary fission and LCP-gated γ-γ matrix for ternary fission. By identifying the secondary fission fragments from their γ-ray transitions, we measured the yields for various fission splits.

On spontaneous fission rates

Nuclear Physics, 1959
Abstract An attempt is made to explain the irregular behaviour of the spontaneous fission half-lives. The influence of a single nucleon on the barrier height is calculated from the level scheme of Nilsson. It turns out that in many cases the single particle effects changes the barrier height quite considerably compared to the smooth change expected ...

Prompt in spontaneous and neutron induced fission of 236U and its half-life for spontaneous fission

Journal of Nuclear Energy, 1971
Abstract The energy dependence of prompt v has been investigated for the neutron induced fission of 235U in the energy range 0·8−6·7 MeV. The fission neutron detector was a large liquid scintillator. The present data can be fitted with a straight line v v (E n ) = 2·316 + 0·131E n .

Student experiments in spontaneous fission

American Journal of Physics, 1981
Advanced undergraduate experiments utilizing a commerically available, thin 252Cf spontaneous fission (SF) source are described. These include studies of the energy and mass distribution of the fission fragments and their energy and angular correlation.

Spontaneous Fission: A Kinetic Approach

Physical Review Letters, 1997
We present an attempt towards the many-body description of spontaneous fission based on the semiclassical Vlasov equation and the Feynman path integral method. We define suitable collective variables from the Vlasov solution and use the imaginary time technique for the dynamics below the Coulomb barrier.
