Surface hydration‐induced damage in tight oil‐bearing sandy conglomerate reservoirs
A series of techniques such as X‐ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, energy‐dispersive spectroscopy, conductivity tests, and infrared thermal imaging were used. The key findings are the identification of a two‐stage surface hydration process and the elucidation of the effects of various minerals and elements on the hydration process ...

Core Scale Simulation of Spontaneous Solvent Imbibition from HPAM Gel
Capillary spontaneous imbibition of solvent (brine bound in gel) from formed polymer gel into an adjacent, oil-saturated porous medium was recently observed in laboratory experiments.

A nanostructured photonic‐thermal coating enables radiative‐cooling‐induced condensation and water harvesting, establishing a self‐sustaining agrivoltaics microclimate loop that transforms PV panels into active climate regulators. The integration of photovoltaic (PV) panels into agricultural landscapes (i.e., agrivoltaics) offers a promising path for ...

Quantitative Insights into Atomic Scale Oil–Clay Adhesion Governing Shale Oil Retention and Mobility
Atomic force microscopy reveals a clear adhesion hierarchy between shale oil and clay minerals, governed by nanoscale surface chemistry. Strong interactions on chlorite and illite arise from abundant polar sites and cation bridging, whereas weaker coupling on montmorillonite limits interfacial binding.

An Experimental Study of Spontaneous Imbibition in Horn River Shales
Massive hydraulic fracturing operations conducted in shale reservoirs create extensive fracture networks to enhance recovery of hydrocarbons from low permeability shale reservoirs. Fluid invasion into the shale matrix is identified as one of the possible

Creativity and its link to epilepsy
Abstract Creative thinking represents one of our highest‐order cognitive processes, involving multiple cortical structures and an intricate interplay between several cortical and subcortical networks. It results in novel ideas that translate to useful products or concepts. The evolutionary purpose of creativity is therefore apparent, as it advances our
