Permeability evolution of shale during spontaneous imbibition [PDF]
Abstract Shales have small pore and throat sizes ranging from nano to micron scales, low porosity and limited permeability. The poor permeability and complex pore connectivity of shales pose technical challenges to (a) understanding flow and transport mechanisms in such systems and, (b) in predicting permeability changes under dynamic saturation ...

Analytical spontaneous imbibition model for confined nanofractures [PDF]
Abstract The capillary spontaneous imbibition length of slick water in confined rectangular cross-sectional nanofractures is investigated in this paper. In the established model, the effective slip length, effective viscosity, wettability and nanofracture size are incorporated into the modified Hagen–Poiseuille equation.

An ion‐mediated structural engineering strategy enables versatile modulation of PVA–Alginate hydrogel microstructure. We systematically examine how different ion combinations affect hydrogel mechanical properties and analyte diffusivity. Applying this novel strategy to hydrogel as the outer membrane in an electrochemical glucose biosensor allows ...

This study reveals that Urolithin A (UA) counteracts alcohol‐induced cognitive and social dysfunction (AICSD) via a gut microbiome‐dependent mechanism. UA‐enriched Bacteroids sartorii and Parabacteroids distasonis elevate anandamide (AEA), which activates the CB1R‐DRD2‐Rap1 signaling cascade to drive synaptic repair and reduce neuroinflammation ...

Roughening dynamics of spontaneous radial imbibition
We performed an experimental observation on the spontaneous imbibition of water in a porous media in a radial Hele-Shaw cell and confirmed Washburn's law, where r is distance and t is time. Spontaneous imbibition with a radial interface window followed scaling dynamics when the front invaded into the porous media.

The ultra‐short‐acting sedative remimazolam has a sustained therapeutic effect on the core symptoms of VPA‐exposed mice. Remimazolam, a GABA agonist, exerts its therapeutic effects by protecting dopamine neurons in the VTA of VPA‐exposed mice. Meanwhile, ferroptosis is the critical mechanism by which remimazolam protects VTA dopaminergic neurons and ...
