MODELING OF THE SPONTANEOUS POLYPROPYLENE SORBENTS IMBIBITION WITH EMULSIONS

open access: yesJOURNAL OF ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEERING AND LANDSCAPE MANAGEMENT, 2014
Oil penetration into aqueous media results in various chemical and physical processes including formation of “oil-in-water” emulsions, that have devastating effects on the environment. This research was conducted to evaluate the kinetics of permeation of “oil-in-water” emulsions into synthetic porous material.

Location‐Specific Hematoma Volume Predicts Early Neurological Deterioration in Supratentorial ICH

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Early neurological deterioration (END) adversely affects outcomes in patients with intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH). This study aimed to determine the location‐specific hematoma volumes for END in supratentorial ICH patients. Methods We retrospectively analyzed supratentorial ICH patients presenting from two prospective cohorts.

Enhancing the spontaneous imbibition rate of water in oil-wet dolomite rocks through boosting a wettability alteration process using carbonated smart brines

open access: yesPetroleum Science, 2019
Most fractured carbonate oil reservoirs have oil-wet rocks. Therefore, the process of imbibing water from the fractures into the matrix is usually poor or basically does not exist due to negative capillary pressure.

An understanding of oil–water replacement mechanism based on interfacial tension gradient during the well shut-in

open access: yesEnergy Reports, 2022
Spontaneous imbibition behavior of fracturing fluid retained in reservoirs is considered to be one of the important mechanisms of spontaneous oil–water displacement in tight reservoirs.

The Onset of Spontaneous Imbibition: How Irregular Fronts Influence Imbibition Rate and Scaling Groups

open access: yes, 2018
Spontaneous imbibition is a capillary dominated displacement process where a non-wetting fluid is displaced from a porous medium by the inflow of a more-wetting fluid.

Spontaneous imbibition behavior in porous media with various hydraulic fracture propagations: A pore-scale perspective [PDF]

open access: yes, 2023
Hydraulic fracturing technology can improve the geologic structure of unconventional oil and gas reservoirs, yielding a complex fracture network resulting from the synergistic action of hydraulic and natural fractures.

Pore scale numerical investigation of counter-current spontaneous imbibition in multi-scaled pore networks

open access: yesPetroleum, 2023
The multi-scaled pore networks of shale or tight reservoirs are considerably different from the conventional sandstone reservoirs. After hydraulic fracturing treatment, the spontaneous imbibition process plays an important role in the productivity of the

Elephant‐Skin‐Inspired Porous Cementitious Tiles with Programmable Crack Networks for Passive Cooling

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Elephant‐skin‐inspired crack networks are programmed in porous diatomaceous earth (DE)‐cement composites using substrate‐guided, stress‐concentration induced fracture. The resulting crack lattices act as capillary conduits that redistribute water, while the porous matrix stores moisture.

Shaping Carbon Nitrides for Advanced Macrostructures

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
This review examines how carbon nitride can be shaped through a range of printing and interfacial assembly methods. By bringing together additive manufacturing and liquid–liquid structuring concepts, carbon nitride is moving beyond its traditional powder‐based photocatalyst form toward digitally designed robust macroscale architectures with high design
