Performance comparison of novel chemical agents in improving oil recovery from tight sands through spontaneous imbibition

open access: yesPetroleum Science, 2019
Tight sands are abundant in nanopores leading to a high capillary pressure and normally a low fluid injectivity. As such, spontaneous imbibition might be an effective mechanism for improving oil recovery from tight sands after fracturing.

PRMT1‐Mediated LDHA Methylation Drives STAT3 Lactylation to Orchestrate Intestinal Inflammation and Tumorigenesis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study identifies an immunometabolic axis wherein SAM‐driven PRMT1 methylates LDHA, enhancing its activity. The resultant lactate induces STAT3 K709 lactylation, which stabilizes an active conformation to promote STAT3 phosphorylation and IL‐10 expression.

A Multiscale Study on Shale Wettability: Spontaneous Imbibition Versus Contact Angle

open access: yesWater Resources Research, 2019
Environmental and technical issues associated with hydraulic fracturing fluid leak‐off and its low recovery in clay‐rich shale reservoirs has challenged the energy sector.

Recent advances in spontaneous imbibition with different boundary conditions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Spontaneous imbibition plays an important role in many practical processes, such as oil recovery, hydrology, and environmental engineering. The development in spontaneous imbibition goes fast in the past few years.

INVERSE MODELING OF SPONTANEOUS IMBIBITION

open access: yes, 2023
Reservoirs that contain natural fracture systems, often developed through water injection, comprise a significant portion of the global oil supply. The injected fluid tends to flow preferentially through the fracture network, thereby bypassing the matrix

Polymer Matrix‐Based 3D Culture Significantly Enhances the Differentiation and Immunomodulatory Functions of Human Adipose‐Derived Stem Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The 3D culture of human adipose‐derived stem cells (hADSCs) on a crosslinked cyclosiloxane‐based poly‐Z matrix platform enables the formation of spheroid structures enriched with extracellular matrix (ECM). These ECM‐enriched hADSC spheroids cultured on poly‐Z exhibit enhanced differentiation potential, immunomodulatory capacity, and in vivo ...

Nigra‐Subthalamic Dopaminergic Circuitry Modulates and Represents Distinct Pain Modality in Physiological and Pain States in Mice

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Nigral dopaminergic (DA) neurons modulate and represent pain with a preference to a particular modality (mechanical) and laterality (contralateral), which are controlled by nigral GABAergic neurons. The pain modulation is mimicked by the nigro‐subthalamic projection and its downstream neurons, involving D2‐like receptors.

Spontaneous imbibition of modified salinity brine into different lithologies: an improvement of comprehensive scaling used for fractured reservoir simulation

open access: yesJournal of Petroleum Exploration and Production Technology
Spontaneous water imbibition into matrix blocks can be a significant oil recovery mechanism in fractured reservoirs. Many enhanced oil recovery methods, such as injection of modified salinity brine, are proposed for improving spontaneous imbibition ...
