Spontaneous hepatic hemangioma rupture

open access: yes, 2015
Hepatic hemangiomas are congenital vascular malformations. These hemangiomas are the most common benign tumors of the liver and are often asymptomatic. Spontaneous rupture of hemangiomas have very high risk but occurs rarely.

Intermediate Resistive State in Wafer‐Scale Vertical MoS2 Memristors Through Lateral Silver Filament Growth for Artificial Synapse Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In MOCVD MoS2 memristors, a current compliance‐regulated Ag filament mechanism is revealed. The filament ruptures spontaneously during volatile switching, while subsequent growth proceeds vertically through the MoS2 layers and then laterally along the van der Waals gaps during nonvolatile switching.

Endometriosis-related spontaneous diaphragmatic rupture

open access: yes, 2010
Non-traumatic, spontaneous diaphragmatic rupture is a rare event whose pathophysiology is not known. We report the case of endometriosis-related spontaneous rupture of the right diaphragm with intrathoracic herniation of the liver, gallbladder and colon.

ATP‐Mediated Bidirectional Communication Between Natural and Artificial Cells for Controlled Bioreactions

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Establishment of bidirectional communication behavior between natural and artificial cells. The first type of communication from natural dendritic cells to artificial polymeric cells was achieved via ATP release after cell lysis. The released ATP was taken up via gated UV‐controlled permeability increase of the polymeric membrane for performing ...

Patient‐Derived 3D Heart‐On‐a‐Chip Model of Dilated Cardiomyopathy With Embedded Bead‐Based Mapping of Tissue Contractility

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
A heart‐on‐a‐chip model of dilated cardiomyopathy is developed from patient‐derived induced pluripotent stem cells. The model recapitulates key disease phenotypes and enables functional assessment through integrated bead‐based tracking and pillar deflection measurements.

Spontaneous rupture of thymoma

open access: yesRespiratory Medicine Case Reports, 2019
We report a case of patient who presented to the hospital due to shoulder pain and was later diagnosed with ruptured thymoma. Shortly after being admitted to the hospital for the work up patient developed respiratory distress and underwent emergent ...

Silicone Breast Implants as a Model System for Understanding Polymer Permeation in Soft Materials In Vivo

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Silicone breast implants are presented as a model system for understanding polymer permeation in vivo. Rather than representing material failure, “gel bleed” emerges from solution–diffusion transport‐mediated. By integrating polymer architecture, physicochemical transport, and biointerfacial processes, this review provides a unified framework that ...

Spontaneous splenic rupture in pregnancy: a case report [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Spontaneous splenic rupture in pregnancy is a rare condition, associated with very high maternal mortality rate and fetal wastage. It is frequently misdiagnosed at presentation.

PLL‐g‐HPA Hydrogel Microneedles Loaded With Rhoifolin Target Macrophages to Alleviate Fibroblast Senescence for Diabetic Wound Healing

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Diabetic wound healing is hindered by a pathological crosstalk wherein elevated IL‐11 induces M1 macrophage polarization, leading to IL‐1β/IL‐6 release and subsequent fibroblast senescence via RAS/p38MAPK/p53/E2F1 signaling. Here, we develop a Gel@M‐Rho microneedle patch that delivers rhoifolin‐loaded, macrophage membrane‐coated nanoparticles to target
