Strain‐Induced Reduction of Centrosymmetry in Rare‐Earth Iron Garnet Thin Films

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, EarlyView.
This study introduces reduced centrosymmetry in rare‐earth iron garnet thin films. Studies on compressively strained Sm3Fe5O12 and tensile‐strained Lu3Fe5O12 thin films reveal that above critical thickness, a more than tenfold increase in coercivity and non‐zero orbital moments indicate a reduction of centrosymmetry.

Switching Chirophilic Self‐assembly: From meso‐structures to Conglomerates in Liquid and Liquid Crystalline Network Phases of Achiral Polycatenar Compounds

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, Volume 28, Issue 67, December 1, 2022., 2022
The change of the interhelical self‐assembly from enantiophilic to enantiophobic takes place by reduction of the alkyl chain length and leads to a phase transition from the achiral double gyroid via a tetragonal phase to a chiral triple network phase, associated with a transition from an achiral to a mirror symmetry broken liquid.

Reversal of Spin‐Torque Polarity with Inverting Current Vorticity in Composition‐Graded Layer at the Ti/W Interface

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, EarlyView.
In compositional gradient materials, variations in electrical conductivity through the film thickness create a gradient in the electric current, resulting in vorticity. This vorticity acts like a magnetic field, whose gradient drives the generation of spin current.

Valley Polarization of Landau Levels in the ZrSiS Surface Band Driven by Residual Strain

open access: yesPhysical Review X
In a multivalley electronic band structure, lifting of the valley degeneracy is associated with rotational symmetry breaking in the electronic fluid and may emerge through spontaneous symmetry breaking order or through a large response to a small ...
