Ascidian Ciona larvae initially show strong clockwise tail twisting, which is largely corrected during development. However, a small residual twist remains. This study shows that organized helical myofibrils in tail muscles mechanically stabilize this residual asymmetry, preventing complete restoration of bilateral symmetry and revealing how embryos ...

Diagnosing strong-to-weak symmetry breaking via Wightman correlators
Symmetry plays a fundamental role in quantum many-body physics, and a central concept is spontaneous symmetry breaking. Recent developments highlight new symmetry-breaking patterns known as strong-to-weak spontaneous symmetry breaking, characterized by ...

How is spontaneous symmetry breaking possible? [PDF]
We pose and resolve a seeming paradox about spontaneous symmetry breaking in the quantum theory of infinite systems. For a symmetry to be spontaneously broken, it must not be implementable by a unitary operator.

Corrections to Wigner-Eckart Relations by Spontaneous Symmetry Breaking
The matrix elements of operators transforming as irreducible representations of an unbroken symmetry groupGare governed by the well-known Wigner-Eckart relations.

A distinct semi‐confined inner‐tube chemical vapor deposition geometry enables reproducible, large‐area growth of phase‐pure 2D β′‐In2Se3 from InI + Se precursors. Engineering local vapor transport and optimizing precursor delivery and temperature–time conditions yield uniform continuous films.

One of the most powerful ideas of modern theoretical physics is the mechanism of spontaneous symmetry breaking. It is at the basis of most of the recent achievements in the description of phase transitions in Statistical Mechanics as well as of collective phenomena in solid state physics.

The Meaning of Spontaneous Symmetry Breaking (I): From a simple classical model [PDF]
This paper, part I of a two-part project, aims at answering the simple question 'what is spontaneous symmetry breaking?' by analyzing from a philosophical perspective a simple classical model.

In a mostly review paper, we show that the important problem of symmetry, broken symmetry, and spontaneous broken symmetry of polyatomic systems is directly related to the Jahn–Teller (JT) and pseudo-Jahn–Teller (PJT) effects, including the hidden-JT and

Magnetic Control of Chiral Hybridized Phonon Magnetic Moments in Ferrimagnets Fe2‐xZnxMo3O8
Helicity‐resolved magneto‐Raman spectroscopy reveals magnetic control of chiral phonon magnetic moments in polar ferrimagnet (ZnxFe2−xMo3O₈). Large spontaneous zero‐field phonon splittings, selective phonon–magnon coupling, and asymmetric Zeeman responses demonstrate that phonon chirality is governed by magnon‐phonon coupling and magnetization.
