Some Chamber Systems Belonging to Sporadic Simple Groups
Proceedings of the London Mathematical Society, 1992In this interesting paper certain chamber systems are studied in detail. Most of the various types of chamber systems occurring in the theorem are realized in sporadic simple groups. The authors remark, that -- in addition -- to the classification of geometries and chamber systems, their paper would also be a contribution to the new classification of ...

Exact Factorizations of Sporadic Simple Groups
Experimental Mathematics, 2019A group G is said to have an exact factorization if there exist proper subgroups Ai for i=1,2,…,n such that G=A1A2…An and |G|=|A1||A2|…|An|. The number n is called length of this factorization.

Serial Group Rings of Finite Groups. Sporadic Simple Groups and Suzuki Groups
Journal of Mathematical Sciences, 2016Let \(G\) be a finite group, \(F\) a field of prime characteristic \(p\), \(FG\) the group algebra. The authors, continuing their research in [J. Math. Sci., New York 202, No. 3, 422--433 (2014; Zbl 1311.20001)] and [Algebra Discrete Math. 16, No. 2, 201--216 (2013; Zbl 1311.20002)], study the question: when the group ring \(FG\) is serial? A module is

Sporadic Simple Groups and Their Modules
2002Just as with the Lie type groups we shall need some specific information about the 26 sporadic simple groups. For information about their automorphism groups, their Schur multipliers and their local subgroups we refer to the ATLAS [37] or alternatively to [64].

2-Coverings for exceptional and sporadic simple groups
Archiv der Mathematik, 2013It is well known that any finite group \(G\) cannot be the union of the \(G\)-conjugates of a proper subgroup. However, such a group can be the union of the \(G\)-conjugates of two proper subgroups. If \(H\) and \(K\) are proper subgroups of \(G\) such that \(G=\bigcup_{g\in G}H^g\cup\bigcup_{g\in G}K^g\), then \(G\) is called 2-coverable and the pair \

A quantitative property of sporadic simple groups
Journal of Group Theory, 2001Using the classification of finite simple groups the authors prove that every sporadic simple group is determined by its order and the set of indices of its maximal subgroups.

Rectagraphs, Diagrams, and Suzuki's Sporadic Simple Group
1982We investigate incidence structures with diagram of rank n + 1. For n = 2, examples can be constructed from biplanes, semibiplanes, and strongly regular graphs with λ =0, μ=0. For n > 2 there are some examples related to the construction of a strongly regular graph on 1782 points by Suzuki. We also give some general theorems on diagrams which, e.g.,
