MORPHOGENESIS OF THE SPORANGIUM OF COMATRICHA

American Journal of Botany, 1961
Goodwin, Donna C. (State U. Iowa, Iowa City.) Morphogenesis of the sporangium of Comatricha. Amer. Jour. Bot. 48(2): 148–154. IIlus. 1961.—Three species of the myxomycete genus, Comatricha, were studied: Comatricha nigra, C. fimbriata, and C. elegans. The sporangia developed on living bark of Ulmus americana in moist chamber.

Sporangium Discharge in Pilobolus : A Photographic Study

Science, 1964
Stages in the discharge of sporangia by the fungus, Pilobolus kleinii , were photographed by means of a high-speed electronic flash triggered by a photocell. The photographs confirm that the sporangium is propelled by a jet of cell sap.

THE SPORANGIUM OF HORNEOPHYTON LIGNIERI (RHYNIOPHYTINA)

American Journal of Botany, 1974
Numerous sporangia of Horneophyton lignieri from the Rhynie Chert locality in Scotland have been studied. The sporangia are branched, with two to four columellate lobes of varying length, and a continuous sporogenous zone or cavity occurs among the lobes.

Changes in gene expression during sporangium formation in Achlya ambisexualis

Developmental Biology, 1982
Abstract The patterns of proteins synthesized at different stages of starvation-induced sporangium formation in the oomycete Achlya ambisexualis were compared using one- and two-dimensional gel electrophoresis. The relative rates of synthesis of some proteins detectable in vegetative hyphase changed during early differentiation.

ULTRASTRUCTURAL CHANGES DURING SPORANGIUM FORMATION AND ZOOSPORE DIFFERENTIATION IN BLASTOCLADIELLA EMERSONII

American Journal of Botany, 1968
Samples from synchronized cultures of Blastocladiella emersonii were examined by electron microscopy from the late log phase to the completion of zoospore differentiation. Log‐phase plants contain the usual cytoplasmic organelles but also have an unusual system of large tubules ca.

Bacterial Stimulation of Sporangium Production in Phytophthora cinnamomi

Science, 1965
Bacteria, notably Chromobacterium violaceum , stimulate initiation of production of sporangia by Phytophthora cinnamomi , a plant pathogen which does not produce this asexual stage in ordinary agar or liquid culture.

Heterosporangium: A new category of sporangium in Lycopsida

Acta Botanica Hungarica, 2014
This is being hypothesised that the heterospory to begin with, might have originated within one specific sporangium thereafter separate male and female sporangia would have evolved in due course of time. This new category of a sporangium, is hereby named as “heterosporangium”, conceived to have been the cradle sporangium for the origin of heterospory ...

Sporangium formation in the actinoplanaceae induced by humic acids

Experientia, 1968

Electron microscopy of the sporangium of Phytophthora capsici

Canadian Journal of Botany, 1970
This paper reports results of a study on the ultrastructural cytology of sporangia of Phytophthora capsici Leonian with emphasis on flagellum formation, general sporangial structure during zoospore cleavage, and the presence, structure, and transition of cytoplasmic organelles and inclusions during these processes.Non-cleaving sporangial cytoplasm ...
