Transcellular Ion Currents during Sporangium Development in the Water Mould Achlya bisexualis [PDF]
Changes in the pattern of electric currents that accompany the transformation of growing hyphae of Achlya bisexualis into sporangia have been examined. When hyphae were transferred to a non-nutrient buffer, they continued to extend for several hours and then gave rise to sporangia.

Extracts of Hormophysa triquetra showed antifungal activity with marked hyphal deformities in Fusarium oxysporum and Alternaria alternata. Light microscopy and SEM confirmed structural alterations despite unchanged radial growth. Cucumber assays validated reduced disease incidence, linked to fatty‐acid–rich metabolites detected by GC–MS.
