A novel approach for feline sporotrichosis pathogen detection based on loop‐mediated isothermal amplification

open access: yesVeterinary Dermatology, Volume 36, Issue 4, Page 474-484, August 2025.
Background – Sporotrichosis is a chronic, mycotic infection caused by fungi of the genus Sporothrix. Zoonotic sporotrichosis occurs mainly through S. brasiliensis transmission, resulting from the organism's traumatic introduction via scratches or bites, or contact with exudate from contaminated cats.

Sporothrix schenckii sensu stricto and Sporothrix brasiliensis Are Differentially Recognized by Human Peripheral Blood Mononuclear Cells [PDF]

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2017

Clinical Presentation and Histopathological Characteristics of Sporotrichosis

open access: yesJournal of Cosmetic Dermatology, Volume 24, Issue 3, March 2025.
ABSTRACT Objective Sporotrichosis is the most prevalent deep mycosis worldwide. The differential diagnosis of its clinical symptoms and histopathological features presents considerable complexity. A thorough understanding of the clinical manifestations and pathological characteristics of sporotrichosis is crucial for its accurate clinical diagnosis ...

Esporotricose óssea em gato causada por Sporothrix brasiliensis

open access: yesActa Scientiae Veterinariae, 2017
Background: Sporotrichosis is a deep cutaneous mycosis caused by the Sporothrix species complex, dimorphic fungi of which at least five are of clinical importance: S. brasiliensis, S. globosa, S. luriei, S. mexicana, and S. schenckii sensu stricto. The disease affects humans and animals, especially cats, which can manifest a wide spectrum of clinical ...

Sporothrix brasiliensis genetic toolbox

open access: yes, 2023
Sporotrichosis is the world's most prevalent and distributed subcutaneous mycosis. S. brasiliensis species is reported as the most virulent species, exhibiting the worst clinical manifestations, but the infection and virulence mechanisms of Sporothrix spp. still lack clarification.

Disseminated Cutaneous, Osteoarticular, and Tubulointerstitial Sporotrichosis in an Immunosenescent and Diabetic Host: A Case Report

open access: yesCase Reports in Dermatological Medicine, Volume 2025, Issue 1, 2025.
Introduction Disseminated sporotrichosis is an uncommon presentation of this infectious disease, primarily observed in immunocompromised patients. Here, we present a case of disseminated sporotrichosis occurring in an immunosenescent patient. Case presentation An 81‐year‐old man presented to our clinic with skin ulcers in the scalp, back, right arm ...

A case of sporotrichosis caused by different Sporothrix brasiliensis strains: mycological, molecular, and virulence analyses [PDF]

open access: yesMemorias do Instituto Oswaldo Cruz, 2019
BACKGROUND Sporotrichosis is a subcutaneous mycosis caused by dimorphic pathogenic fungi belonging to the Sporothrix genus. Pathogenic Sporothrix species typically produce melanin, which is known to be a virulence factor.
