Biometry analysis, length-weight relationship and sexual dimorphism of the Spotted Scat, Scatophagus argus (Linnaeus, 1766) (Perciformes: Scatophagidae) from Gulf of Mannar, southeast coast of India [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
A total of 1,659 specimens of spotted scat were collected from commercial landings in Mandapam along Gulf of Mannar for studying biometry, length-weight relationship and sexual dimorphism.

Histology and transcriptomic analysis reveal effects of dietary fish oil and soybean oil on lipid absorption and immune inflammation in the foregut of adult female spotted scat (Scatophagus argus)

open access: yesAquaculture Reports
The foregut is the main site of lipid absorption in fish, but the effect of different lipid sources on the foregut lipid absorption and metabolism in adult female spotted scat is still unclear.

Field Guide to Nonindigenous Marine Fishes of Florida [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
The purpose of this field guide is to provide information on nonindigenous (i.e., non-native) fishes that have been observed in Florida’s marine waters. Introductions of non-native marine fishes into Florida’s waters could be intentional or unintentional,

Spot evolution on the red giant star XX Triangulum. A starspot-decay analysis based on time-series Doppler imaging

open access: yes, 2015
Solar spots appear to decay linearly proportional to their size. The decay rate of solar spots is directly related to magnetic diffusivity, which itself is a key quantity for the length of a magnetic-activity cycle.

Selection of Reference Gene for Expression Studies in the Ovary and Pituitary of Spotted Scat (Scatophagus argus) at Different Ovarian Stages

open access: yesFishes, 2023
The spotted scat (Scatophagus argus) is the most widely commercially cultured fish in eastern and southern Asia that possess potential economic value. However, up to date, there are no studies reported on the selection of suitable reference genes in this

Molecular cloning, characterization, and expression profiles of androgen receptors in spotted scat (Scatophagus argus)

open access: yesGenetics and Molecular Research, 2016
Androgen plays critical roles in vertebrate reproductive systems via androgen receptors (ARs). In the present study, the full-length spotted scat (Scatophagus argus) androgen receptor (sAR) cDNA sequence was cloned from testis. The sAR cDNA measured 2448 bp in length with an open-reading frame of 2289 bp, encoding 763 amino acids.
