UAV Coverage Path Optimization for Dynamic Wildlife Population Monitoring: A Spotted Seal Case Study

open access: yesIEEE Journal of Selected Topics in Applied Earth Observations and Remote Sensing
The existing predefined coverage path strategies in uncrewed aerial vehicle (UAV)-based vertical photogrammetry are inadequate for the monitoring and surveying of spotted seal populations with dynamic group distribution characteristics.

Spotted Seals, Phoca largha, in Alaska

open access: yes, 1997
The worldwide literature on management of spotted seals, Phoca largha, was reviewed and updated, and aerial surveys weref lown in 1992 and 1993 to determine the species' distribution and abundance in U.S. waters. In April, spotted seals were found only in the Bering Sea ice front.

Advancing Human Skin Equivalents: The Crucial Role of Neurovascular Integration

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This review discusses the importance of integrating vascular and peripheral nerve systems into human skin equivalents (HSEs) to better recapitulate native skin physiology. Recent advances in vascularized, innervated, and neurovascularized HSEs are highlighted, together with emerging bioengineering strategies, current challenges, and future ...

PLL‐g‐HPA Hydrogel Microneedles Loaded With Rhoifolin Target Macrophages to Alleviate Fibroblast Senescence for Diabetic Wound Healing

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Diabetic wound healing is hindered by a pathological crosstalk wherein elevated IL‐11 induces M1 macrophage polarization, leading to IL‐1β/IL‐6 release and subsequent fibroblast senescence via RAS/p38MAPK/p53/E2F1 signaling. Here, we develop a Gel@M‐Rho microneedle patch that delivers rhoifolin‐loaded, macrophage membrane‐coated nanoparticles to target

Azobenzene's Cross‐Scale Optics and Photonics: Molecular Photoswitching, Mesoscopic Material Motions, and Adaptive Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Azobenzene photoswitches translate molecular‐scale E/Z photoisomerization into macroscopic material responses and device‐level photonic functions. This Review highlights how azobenzene research has evolved from molecular photochemistry to photoalignment, mass migration, photomechanics, and heat release, ultimately enabling holography, reconfigurable ...
