Cypress (Taxodium) Knee Seasonal Growth Is Stimulated by Flood Water Levels and Constrained by the Tree Dormant Season: A 14‐Year Study

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 6, June 2026.
Data from monthly monitoring of thirty cypress knees in a southern Florida cypress dome over 14 years demonstrated that knees have a distinct dormant season from November through March, and during their growing season, knees grew only when the cypress dome had surface water.

Surface-to-bed heat transfer for high-density particles in conical spouted and spout–fluid beds

open access: yesParticuology, 2019
Abstract Bed-to-surface heat transfer experiments from a vertically submerged cylindrical surface were conducted in laboratory-scale (Dc = 25 cm) conical spouted and spout–fluid beds at two different conical angles (31° and 66°) in the high particle density range (2500 kg/m3 ≤ ρp ≤ 6000 kg/m3).

Bed-to-surface heat transfer in conical spouted and spout-fluid beds

open access: yes, 2017

Poster: "The distribution of fluid flows in a modified spout-fluid bed"

open access: yes
The Draft Tube Spout-Fluid Bed (DTSFB) is obtained by inserting a draft tube into a bed and introducing an auxiliary gas flow for aeration in the annular region. A specific modification of this system is a hydraulic barrier, which is an extension of the column from the bottom and whose diameter is smaller than the diameter of the column.

Maximum spoutable bed height of spout-fluid bed

Chemical Engineering Journal, 2006
Experimental study on the maximum spoutable bed height of a spout-fluid bed (cross-section of 0.3 m × 0.03 m and height of 2 m) packed with Geldart group D particles has been carried out. The effects of particle size, spout nozzle size and fluidizing gas flow rate on the maximum spoutable bed height were studied. Experimental data were compared to some

Flow regimes in a spout–fluid bed: A combined experimental and simulation study

Chemical Engineering Science, 2005
Spout–fluid beds find a widespread application in the process industry for efficient contacting of large particles with a gas. However, detailed understanding of the complex behavior of these systems is lacking, which leads to significant scale-up problems in industry.
