Hidden symmetry protection for surface plasmon polaritons

open access: yesPhysical Review Research, 2023
In this study, we reveal the general mechanism of hidden symmetry protection for surface plasmon polaritons (SPPs). SPPs are protected at zero frequency when the dielectric-metal interface exhibits an exceptional symmetry.

Exposure to SPPs increases the intracellular ROS levels in human moDCs.

open access: yes, 2012
Cells were incubated with freshly isolated ragweed SPPs for 1 h both in the presence and absence of NADPH. Cells were then loaded with the redox-sensitive H2DCF-DA and changes in DCF fluorescence intensities were assessed by flow cytometry.

Spacer‐Less Substrate‐Integrated Metasurface for Near‐Unity Terahertz Absorption

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Although conventional metal‐insulator‐metal (MIM) terahertz (THz) absorbers can provide near‐unity absorption, their multilayer stacks inevitably introduce additional thickness, mass, and residual stress, which limit their compatibility with THz thermal sensing platforms.

Applications of TRMM- and GPM-Era Multiple-Satellite Precipitation Products for Flood Simulations at Sub-Daily Scales in a Sparsely Gauged Watershed in Myanmar

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2019
Tropical Rainfall Measuring Mission (TRMM) and its successor, Global Precipitation Measurement (GPM), have provided hydrologists with important precipitation data sources for hydrological applications in sparsely gauged or ungauged basins.

Stability of SPPs in Zirconium Alloy CZ2 Under Self-Ion Irradiation

open access: yes, 2017
Zr-Nb zirconium alloy was developed at CNPRI and designated as CZ2. In this paper, the composition, size distribution and crystal structure of second phase particles (SPPs) in CZ2 have been analyzed under transmission electron microscopy (TEM). Two types

Gut Mycobiota‐Associated Tryptophan Catabolites Protect Against Metabolic Dysfunction‐Associated Steatotic Liver Disease

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Accumulating evidence suggests that the intestinal microbiota participates in the progression of metabolic dysfunction‐associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) through microbiota‐host interaction. However, the beneficial role of commensal mycobiota in MASLD progression remains poorly understood.

Rainfall estimation in the West African Sahel: comparison and cross-validation of top-down vs. bottom-up precipitation products in Burkina Faso

open access: yesGeocarto International
This study compares the performance of satellite precipitation products (SPPs) and soil moisture-based rainfall products (SM2RPPs) in capturing rainfall patterns in Burkina Faso, West Africa. The findings indicate that SPPs outperform SM2RPPs at daily to

Surface plasmon polariton pulse shaping via two-dimensional Bragg grating pairs

open access: yesNanophotonics, 2020
We demonstrate control over the spatial and temporal properties of surface plasmon polaritons (SPPs) launched from nanohole arrays in silver. The arrays provide wave vector matching to allow the conversion of free-space photons into counter-propagating ...

Multi‐Enzyme Mimetic Molybdenum Nitride Nanozymes Reshape Subgingival Microenvironment for Synergistic Periodontitis Therapy via ROS Regulation and Microbiome Remodeling

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Periodontitis, a chronic inflammatory disease initiated and sustained by plaque microorganisms and host immune response, remains an intractable oral disease and a leading cause of tooth loss worldwide. Traditional mechanical debridement and adjunctive antibiotic or antiseptic therapy often shows limited efficacy due to the complex anatomical ...

Propionibacterium spp. and Acidipropionibacterium spp.

open access: yes, 2020
Genomic evidence has led to the division of genus Propionibacterium into Propionibacterium and Acidipropionibacterium. They are pleomorphic rods, anaerobic to aerotolerant, mesophilic, Gram-positive and of high G+C. They produce propionic acid as a major end product from many substrates. P.
