Cavitation Inside Enlarged And Real-Size Fully Transparent Injector Nozzles And Its Effect On Near Nozzle Spray Formation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The effect of string cavitation in various transparent Diesel injector nozzles on near nozzle spray dispersion angle is examined. Additional PDA measurements on spray characteristics produced from real-size transparent nozzle tips are presented ...

Influence of the spray angle on thermally sprayed heating coatings

open access: yesMaterialwissenschaft und Werkstofftechnik
AbstractTemperature control of mould surfaces is of high relevance for part quality in moulding processes. Due to highly dynamic heating behaviour, heating elements applied by thermal spraying can be an alternative to existing tempering methods. To ensure the feasibility of these heating coatings on industry‐relevant moulds, the coating system needs to

The influence of the spraying angle on properties of thermally sprayed HVOF cermet coatings [PDF]

open access: yesWIT Transactions on Engineering Sciences, 2009
The tribological properties of the surfaces of parts, namely their wear resistance and friction properties, are in many cases decisive for their proper function. To improve surface properties, it is possible to create hard, wear resistant coatings by thermal spray technologies.

Investigation of Laser Ablation and Brush Pre‐Treatments for AlCu Cold Roll Bonding in Oxygen‐Free Conditions

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
It is shown that laser ablation pretreatment under oxygen‐free conditions enables copper–aluminium bonding at significantly lower deformation degrees and improved properties compared to mechanical brushing. Laser ablation further increases interface contact area and induces favourable residual stress states and microstructural compatibility ...

Fuel distribution measurements in a model low NOx double annular combustor using laser induced fluorescence [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Planar laser induced fluorescence (PLIF) was employed in a three sector, low NOx double annular combustor in order to characterise the combusting fuel spray.

EBSD Study of Creep‐Induced Lattice Misorientation in MgO‐Particle‐Reinforced Austenitic Steel Composites

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Creep experiments at 900°C on coarse‐grained steel‐ceramic composites containing recycled magnesia reveal that higher ceramic volume fractions significantly enhance the creep resistance. Detailed EBSD investigations identify subgrain formation in the steel matrix as the dominant deformation mechanism.

Oxide‐Free Titanium Coatings by Wire Arc Spraying in a Silane‐Doped Inert Atmosphere

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A silane‐doped argon atmosphere enables the production of oxide‐free titanium coatings via twin‐wire arc spraying at ambient pressure. This innovative approach eliminates residual oxygen, creating process conditions that prevent oxidation and nitride formation.

Spray characteristics of a multi-hole injector for direct-injection gasoline engines [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
The sprays from a high-pressure multi-hole nozzle injected into a constant-volume chamber have been visualized and quantified in terms of droplet velocity and diameter with a two-component phase Doppler anemometry (PDA) system at injection pressures up ...

Thermodynamic Pathways of Nonequilibrium Solidification in Wire‐Arc Additive Manufacturing Fe‐Based Multicomponent Alloy Structures

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Geometry‐driven thermal behavior in wire‐arc additive manufacturing (WAAM) influences microstructural evolution during nonequilibrium solidification of a chemically complex Fe–Cr–Nb–W–Mo–C nanocomposite system. By comparing different deposits configurations, distinct entropy–cooling rate correlations, segregation, and carbide evolution are revealed ...
