Monte-Carlo Spray Cooling Model

AIP Conference Proceedings, 2010
Spray cooling is a tremendously complex phenomenon that has yet to be completely and successfully modeled. This is due to the complexity of the detailed droplet impingement processes and the subsequent heat transfer process. Numerous assumptions must be made in order to accurately model spray behavior.

Spray Cooling Droplet Impingement Model

10th AIAA/ASME Joint Thermophysics and Heat Transfer Conference, 2010
Spray Cooling is one of the leading techniques proposed for rejection of high heat flux levels necessary in future aircraft and spacecraft electronics and weapons packages. Experimental research and computational CFD require significant amounts of time to setup and execute to completion.

Cryogen spray cooling during laser tissue welding

Physics in Medicine and Biology, 2000
Cryogen cooling during laser tissue welding was explored as a means of reducing lateral thermal damage near the tissue surface and shortening operative time. Two centimetre long full-thickness incisions were made on the epilated backs of guinea pigs, in vivo. India ink was applied to the incision edges then clamps were used to appose the edges.

CO2 Cooling in Thermal Spraying

International Thermal Spray Conference, 1998
Abstract Thermal spraying involves high temperatures which can be a serious problem for some applications. Among different possibilities existing to cool down a specimen during spraying, the use of liquid CO2 is one of the most attractive.

Water spray cooling during handling of feedlot cattle

International Journal of Biometeorology, 2009
Activities involved in receiving or working (e.g., sorting, dehorning, castration, weighing, implanting, etc.) of feedlot cattle cause an increase in body temperature. During hot weather the increased body temperature may disrupt normal behaviors including eating, which can be especially detrimental to the well-being and performance of the animals ...

Dynamic Behavior of Cryogen Spray Cooling: Effect of Spray Distance

Heat Transfer: Volume 2, 2003
Cryogen spray cooling (CSC) is used to minimize the risk of epidermal damage during laser dermatologic surgery. During CSC, skin surface is cooled by a short spurt of refrigerant R134a with boiling point of −26.2°C. Since R134a is volatile in open atmospheric conditions, the atomized liquid droplets undergo continuous evaporation as they fly in air ...

Effect of spray characteristics on spray cooling with liquid nitrogen

Journal of Thermophysics and Heat Transfer, 1994
Operation of power electronics at liquid nitrogen (LN2) temperature is a very attractive possibility. However, a high heat flux (over 100 W/cm) cooling technique like spray cooling will have to be used to realize all the advantages of low-temperature operation. This study provides empirical correlations for LN2 spray cooling.

The Oriented Spray Cooling System for Supplementing Cooling Lakes

Volume 1: Boilers and Heat Recovery Steam Generator; Combustion Turbines; Energy Water Sustainability; Fuels, Combustion and Material Handling; Heat Exchangers, Condensers, Cooling Systems, and Balance-of-Plant, 2017
With ever-increasing ambient temperatures many electric power plants that employ cooling lakes to reject their waste heat into the environment are struggling to maintain reasonable turbine backpressures during the hot summer months when electric load demand is often the greatest.
