CHARACTERIZATION OF HYDRAULIC NOZZLES FOR DROPLET SIZE AND SPRAY COVERAGE

open access: yesAtomization and Sprays, 2012
Spray coverage specifications for commercially available nozzles could help applicators determine the optimal nozzles for effective control of insects, diseases, and weeds. Spray coverage and deposit density from seven types of nozzles at three different flow rates (0.76, 1.14, and 2.27 L min−1) and two target positions (0.50 and 0.70 m below the ...

Parameterization of the sea spray generation function with whitecap coverage

Acta Oceanologica Sinica, 2020
Sea spray droplets are produced by waves breaking on the sea surface, and they vary the transfer of energy between the atmosphere and ocean. The sea spray generation function (SSGF) is generally considered as a function of the initial radius of the spray droplets and the wind speed.

Close-range air-assisted precision spot-spraying for robotic applications: Aerodynamics and spray coverage analysis

open access: yesBiosystems Engineering, 2016
Orchards and grapevines are currently sprayed overall. Most bush and tree crop sprayers use airflow assistance which generates movements in canopy exposing both sides of the leaves to the spray. Also, large coherent vortices are formed further contributing to improved spray coverage. A new close-range air-assisted spot-spraying method for the selective

A Fluorescent Pigment to Measure Spray Coverage

Journal of Economic Entomology, 1970
Spray coverage was determined by measuring emission of visible light from 5/8-inch-diameter areas of fluorescent pigment-sprayed leaves when they were exposed to ultraviolet light in a Turner Huorometer. Plum trees and grapevines were sprayed with air-carrier sprayers traveling at constant speed, air volume, and air velocity.

Spraying Coverage Path Planning for Agriculture Unmanned Aerial Vehicles

2021 26th International Conference on Automation and Computing (ICAC), 2021
Aiming at improving the efficiency of pesticide application from crop spraying unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), this paper investigates problems in spray distribution modelling and coverage path planning (CPP). To capture the pattern of spray, the distribution model is constructed by making use of experimental data and the model fitting method.

Measuring Spray Coverage on Soybean Leaves

Transactions of the ASAE, 1981
ABSTRACT A method was developed for using a fluorescent tracer added to fungicide spray to measure spray coverage on soybean leaves. The unique feacture of the method is that analysis is made directly from the leaf surface without distrubing the spray deposit. A statistical cor-relation was made to express the percentage of spray coverage as a function
