Selection of top-K influential users based on radius-neighborhood degree, multi-hops distance and selection threshold

open access: yesJournal of Big Data, 2018
Influence maximization in the social network becomes increasingly important due to its various benefit and application in diverse areas. In this paper, we propose DERND D-hops that adapt the radius-neighborhood degree to a directed graph which is an ...

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Well posedness of fluid/solid mixture models for biofilm spread

open access: yes, 2023
Two phase solid-fluid mixture models are ubiquitous in biological applications. For instance, models for growth of tissues and biofilms combine time dependent and quasi-stationary boundary value problems set in domains whose boundary moves in response to

Forecasting of COVID-19 Cases Under Different Precaution Strategies in Turkey

open access: yesDüzce Üniversitesi Bilim ve Teknoloji Dergisi
The coronavirus disease started at the end of 2019 and affected all the countries in the world. In Turkey, the vaccination process started at the beginning of 2021 but performed in slow progress.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Are product spreads useful for forecasting? An empirical evaluation of the Verleger hypothesis

open access: yes, 2013
Notwithstanding a resurgence in research on out-of-sample forecasts of the price of oil in recent years, there is one important approach to forecasting the real price of oil which has not been studied systematically to date. This approach is based on the

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Near-Optimum Iterative Multiuser Detection in Time-Frequency-Domain Spread Multicarrier DS-CDMA Systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
In this contribution we propose and study a novel iterative time-frequency-domain (TF-domain) multiuser detector (MUD) for the multicarrier direct-sequence code-division multiple-access system employing both T-domain and F-domain spreading, which, for ...
