Holistic springback compensation procedure

open access: yesIOP Conference Series: Materials Science and Engineering
Abstract The elastic springback during the manufacturing process of stamped car body components causes dimensional deviations. To compensate these deviations, the common approach is to modify the tool surfaces in the opposite direction of the deviations – this is called springback compensation. In the procedure of springback compensation

Barkhausen Noise‐ and Eddy Current‐Based Measurements for Online Detection of Deformation‐Induced Martensite During Flow Forming of Metastable Austenitic Steel AISI 304L

open access: yesEngineering Reports, Volume 7, Issue 1, January 2025.
Barkhausen noise (BN)‐ and eddy currents (EC)‐based sensor systems were tested to detect deformation‐induced martensite during flow forming of austenitic steel 304L. The results with EC have advantages over those with BN due to the good correlation with reference α′‐martensite measurements and the low influence of factors such as roughness.

Efficient fe strategies for springback prediction – material modelling and computational aspects [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Blanks of sheet metal are characterized by an intrinsic plastic anisotropic behaviour resulting from the plastic deformation during the rolling of sheets. Another type of anisotropy is elastic anisotropy which might be essential especially during elastic

Low‐Volume Cores for Fabrication of Compact, Versatile, and Intelligent Soft Systems

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 34, Issue 46, November 12, 2024.
This study introduces a novel fabrication strategy that uses thin flexible sheets as low‐volume cores (LVC) for the molding process of soft robotic devices. The low‐profile chamber features of soft devices enable efficient and compact multi‐degree‐of‐freedom actuations as well as fully soft and monolithic logic components, which makes these components ...

Experimental Investigations of a Springback in Hydromechanical Deep Drawing of Low Carbon Steel 1008 AISI

open access: yesTikrit Journal of Engineering Sciences
Hydro mechanical deep drawing (HMDD) is an emerging technology that reduces the number of sheet-forming stages and increases the production of advanced lightweight materials with intricate shapes. This study aims to verify the springback in HMDD and the

Numerical simulation of springback of medium-thick plates in local hot rolling

open access: yesZhongguo Jianchuan Yanjiu, 2017
[Objectives] In order to understand the factors of springback in the local hot rolling of medium-thick steel plates,[Methods] a 3D thermal-elastic-plastic analysis is conducted to investigate the factors affecting the amount of springback.

Sheet forming simulations of automotive parts using different yield functions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
In this work, the influence of the yield function on finite element (FE) forming simulation results for two auto-body panels, hood inner and door outer, was investigated. Simulations were conducted with different yield functions, Hill's1948.

Investigating the Convertibility and Barrier Performance of a Novel Suberin Dispersion Coating During the Paperboard Creasing Process

open access: yesPackaging Technology and Science, Volume 37, Issue 11, Page 1037-1048, November 2024.
The convertibility and barrier properties of a novel suberin dispersion coating were examined and compared with those of six commercial coatings. Paperboard coated with the suberin dispersion initially acquired a barrier that was comparable to the commercial products but experienced severe damage after creasing.

Preliminary Investigation of Micro-V-Bending

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2017
Bending in sheet metal forming is defined as uniformly straining process around a linear axis. A V-bending process is normally used in sheet metal working due to the tool and process simplicity.

Blanking by means of the finite element method [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
This paper summarizes the results of simulating the blanking process by means\ud of the Finite Element Method. Unlike most of the research in this eld, the focus is not on the blanking process itself but on the deformed shape of a product after blanking.
