For the first time, Continuous Fiber‐Reinforced 3D printing is used to fabricate a foot prosthesis, exploring the flexibility in the design space granted by additive manufacturing, evaluating computationally and experimentally the effect of different design features on the mechanical and biomechanical response of the material, to locally tune the ...

The springback phenomenon (SBP) is a prevalent, costly, and challenging problem. It occurs in metals during sheet metal forming processes (SMFPs). Experimental studies can have errors that prevent the target data from being acquired.

Numerical simulation of springback of medium-thick plates in local hot rolling
[Objectives] In order to understand the factors of springback in the local hot rolling of medium-thick steel plates,[Methods] a 3D thermal-elastic-plastic analysis is conducted to investigate the factors affecting the amount of springback.

Convertibility and Barrier Performance of Novel Bio‐Based Extrusion‐Coated Paperboards
The convertibility and barrier properties before and after creasing were examined for three bio‐based paperboard extrusion coatings (low‐density polyethylene and two polybutylene succinate grades). All materials demonstrated high oil resistance and low water absorbency, but the values for the oxygen and water vapour transmission rates appeared ...

Preliminary Investigation of Micro-V-Bending
Bending in sheet metal forming is defined as uniformly straining process around a linear axis. A V-bending process is normally used in sheet metal working due to the tool and process simplicity.

Barkhausen noise (BN)‐ and eddy currents (EC)‐based sensor systems were tested to detect deformation‐induced martensite during flow forming of austenitic steel 304L. The results with EC have advantages over those with BN due to the good correlation with reference α′‐martensite measurements and the low influence of factors such as roughness.

Springback of FDSC MPF for cylindrical surfaces [PDF]
In this paper, Force-Displacement Separated Control Multi-Point Forming technology (FDSC MPF), a new technology of sheet metal forming isproposed. Through controlling displacement by upper die and controlling force by lower die, the technology realizes ...

Towards an accurate springback prediction : experiments and modeling [PDF]
Finite element (FE) simulations are used extensively during the tool design stage to predict the springback; it can then be compensated for by adapting the tool’s geometry. The tool is adapted in such a way that the formed product takes the intended shape after springback.
