Application of the continuum shell finite element SHB8PS to sheet forming simulation using an extended large strain anisotropic elastic–plastic formulation [PDF]
http://link.springer.com/article/10.1007%2Fs00419-012-0620-xThis paper proposes an extension of the SHB8PS solid–shell finite element to large strain anisotropic elasto-plasticity, with application to several non-linear benchmark tests including sheet ...

Springback prediction of magnesium alloy sheet with nonlinear combined hardening
Springback is regarded as one of the main defects that occur in sheet-metal forming processes. Therefore, improving its prediction accuracy, especially under highly nonlinear conditions, is important for researchers. In this paper, constitutive equations

Towards an accurate springback prediction : experiments and modeling [PDF]
Finite element (FE) simulations are used extensively during the tool design stage to predict the springback; it can then be compensated for by adapting the tool’s geometry. The tool is adapted in such a way that the formed product takes the intended shape after springback.

Accurate prediction of springback after coining operation
A common approach used to reduce springback in flanging operations is to apply additional coining around the bent regions. In this strategy, the sheet metal part is compressed between two rigid dies having a clearance less than the sheet thickness. The aim is to bring additional compressive stresses especially around bending dominated regions.

Springback in multi-point dieless forming (MDF) is a common problem because of the small deformation and blank holder free boundary condition. Numerical simulations are widely used in sheet metal forming to predict the springback.

Prediction of springback in multi-point forming
Flexible forming techniques, such as multi-point forming (MPF), are employed in manufacturing to reduce the time and cost of production. MPF uses a set of height-adjustable pins to construct free-form three-dimensional surfaces. Springback is a common phenomenon in forming including MPF which, if not properly catered for, will lead to parts that are ...

Denoising Diffusion Model With Pixel‐Adaptive Convolutions for Sheet Metal Forming Analysis
ABSTRACT Traditional tool development processes in mechanical forming, especially for pressing tools, are often limited by time‐consuming trial‐and‐error cycles, which rely heavily on expert knowledge. These cycles can create bottlenecks and increase costs.

Evaluation of constitutive models for springback prediction in U-draw/bending of DP and TRIP steel sheets [PDF]
U-draw/bending experiments and simulations were performed to investigate the characteristics of springback in sheet metals. The finite element method is frequently used for the simulation of springback, but the predictions are strongly influenced by the ...

High‐Velocity Ballistic Impact Performance of FFF Printed PEEK With Different Infill Patterns
This study examines 3D printed PEEK under Izod, quasi‐static, and high‐velocity impact. Hexagonal infill shows the highest Izod impact strength and superior quasi‐static energy absorption. However, under ballistic impact, all patterns behave similarly, indicating performance depends on infill at low velocity, but on intrinsic material properties at ...
