Urinary LGALS3BP is elevated in bladder cancer patients compared to healthy controls as detected by the 1959 antibody–based ELISA. The antibody shows enhanced reactivity to the high‐mannose glycosylated variant secreted by cancer cells treated with kifunensine (KIF).

Russia in the global hydrocarbon economy
“Russia is a world gas column or a world kerosene”. These slogans are widely used in anti-Russian rhetoric, especially by those opponents who, giving them a pejorative character, try to show the innovative backwardness of our “resource” economy in ...

Survivin and Aurora Kinase A control cell fate decisions during mitosis
Aurora A interacts with survivin during mitosis and regulates its centromeric role. Loss of Aurora A activity mislocalises survivin, the CPC and BubR1, leading to disruption of the spindle checkpoint and triggering premature mitotic exit, which we refer to as ‘mitotic slippage’.

Dr. Stanley Zlotkin’s invention was never going to be a money-maker. After all, it was designed to combat the debilitating iron deficiency experienced by children in the developing world. Not a lot of purchasing power there.

Intein‐based modular chimeric antigen receptor platform for specific CD19/CD20 co‐targeting
CARtein is a modular CAR platform that uses split inteins to splice antigen‐recognition modules onto a universal signaling backbone, enabling precise, scarless assembly without re‐engineering signaling domains. Deployed here against CD19 and CD20 in B‐cell malignancies, the design supports flexible multi‐antigen targeting to boost T‐cell activation and

Impact of the Belding's ground squirrel, Spermophilus beldingi, on alfalfa production in northeastern California [PDF]
The Belding ground squirrel (Spermophilus beldingi) is found in rangeland, pasture, and various agronomic crops. However, its impact on agricultural production has been measured only rarely, e.g., by Grinnell and Dixon (1918) and Sauer (1976, 1977).

Cytoplasmic p21 promotes stemness of colon cancer cells via activation of the NFκB pathway
Cytoplasmic p21 promotes colorectal cancer stem cell (CSC) features by destabilizing the NFκB–IκB complex, activating NFκB signaling, and upregulating BCL‐xL and COX2. In contrast to nuclear p21, cytoplasmic p21 enhances spheroid formation and stemness transcription factor CD133.

A comparison of turbulent CFD with Gaussian dispersion models on a methane emission test site
This article investigates the influence of structures on the atmospheric transport of methane in an outdoor industrial environment, and provides a comparison in the predictive capability of Gaussian dispersion models against a turbulent computational ...

HDAC4 is degraded by the E3 ligase FBXW7. In colorectal cancer, FBXW7 mutations prevent HDAC4 degradation, leading to oxaliplatin resistance. Forced degradation of HDAC4 using a PROTAC compound restores drug sensitivity by resetting the super‐enhancer landscape, reprogramming the epigenetic state of FBXW7‐mutated cells to resemble oxaliplatin ...
